A week in any city

Define close? Yosemite is over 200 miles and a four hour drive from San Fran.

FYI, Yosemite is only 225 miles from Lake Tahoe. However, Tahoe and San Francisco provide two totally different vacation experiences. Both are awesome, just for different reasons.

Well I'm clearly biased but you can't go wrong with Pacific Northwest Seattle or Portland.

Mount Rainier Nat Park
Olympic Nat Park
Mount St Helens National Volcanic Monument
North Cascades Nat Park

Great dg courses

If you time it right there's also http://www.pdga.com/tournament_results/99215

I must say though your best window would be late July through September. Any earlier and the weather's up for grabs.

I will agree with this recommendation. Tons of National Parks and lots of DG options. Portland is a great DG area but not really any NP's nearby. The only thing I would change is I would say your safe weather "window" would be late JUNE through Sept. You can't beat the summers out here.
