[Discraft] CT Wasp popularity

That's a Wasp? Disc says 2004, just sayin... I have an Elite Pro XL from "back in the day" and its a great flyer and easy to control, but I can't afford to develop it because I can't replace it, so it sits at home. Same reason I throw P-line PDs, because they are available and I can break them in, affordably replace them and not worry about it.
Sure is. The guy who you don't want to name won Worlds in 2001, they made these X Wasps for him shortly thereafter. One of my all time favorite discs.

What's wrong with cam besides being notoriously grouchy? Also I used to throw the og CT challengers and use the new ones now and the plastic is similar but not the same. I'm still hunting for the original ones even though I should probably give up all those discs from that era are approaching that shelf life where they just shatter without warning.

The old CT was just as stiff as new CT but the old stuff was almost fuzzy in grip texture like it was microscopically porous the new stuff is grippy but still somewhat slick and has a smooth texture.

This one has hit some trees and still flies more stable than a Buzzz. Although this is Elite X, not CT
beautiful disc

agreed i couldnt beat my x buzzs into a true flipper spot is why i went with the pro d the elite x actually lasts a super long time and is impressive for mid grade plastic

and now dug myself into a hole since they stopped making pro d buzz and no x or jb wasps unless its the bs $$$ runs that isnt reasonable for someone who plays as much as i do to regularly stock when i can purchase a fat stack of rock3s from innova pro shop at 4-5 to 1 ratio

full circle on this conversation i suppose

fwiw i emailed discraft plenty of times about it begging for d or x wasps and they usually say "well see"

Legitimately don't know who it is, and if I hadn't started playing 8 years ago before the sport really blew up, I wouldn't have any idea who Climo and Feldberg are either. Would LOVE to see Wasps readily available in X or JB or CT or whatever, I just can't justify "chasing" novelties, it isn't sustainable.

i hate to admit it but recently i was eyeing up the rock3 since wasp isnt regularly offered in baseline and discraft apparently quit making the pro d buzz
Hold your head up, elmex. DC should be ashamed that you had to resort to this!

Some Wasp porn for you. Elite X appears unthrown, shaky Z I bagged for awhile and an unthrown pro D that still has the sticker. All used bin finds from a few years ago. I'm not really a collector but I thought these were cool.

It took my X Buzzz something like 5 years of constant, heavy tree hitting as my main mid range disc from like 2006 onward before it got flippy enough to fill that slot. I threw it in a pond sometime around 2013 at Victory Park in Michigan, fantastic course they built for worlds in 2008. I didn't have any backups and I always liked rocs, but my money KC rocs would shatter on trees in the Michigan winter while my elite X buzzz held up pretty solid. I decided I liked the roc style disc so I picked up like 3 Elite X Wasps at the time on eBay back in 2013 or so for maybe 12 bucks each (new) as a substitute/compromise, thinking they would be similar fliers to the Roc while having that X plastic that I loved. The Wasp pictured has been in my summer bag for many, many seasons now. At its age and color (white) I shelve it come winter time.

I really like the standard DX Roc3 discs too, very similar to the Elite X Wasp, definitely a worthy replacement as there's no way I'd shell out the 30 bucks or whatever they're selling for now online. Probably way more for a new one.

You guys must be playing gentle with those ancient x wasps. I just recently exploded a first run esp wasp in 40f against a tree. I have one left before having to dig in my tall stack stack of the sad stiff slick not grippy Chris d esp wasps.

For those lamenting the loss of X Wasps, maybe we can get them to mass produce PM's line widely in X, and we can get X Maltas that way (which are my typical winter OS mid). It's not a Wasp, but it feels similar enough and they start out even more OS so you can cycle them for the premium Wasp slot as well. Still wish we had stock non-Z Wasp options though, regardless of it being JB, CT, X, etc...

Lost this X Buzzz last year, it happens. I've got a Gstar Roc3 beaten in a little and it's indestructible and will be handling most of the work this winter. IMG_7975.jpg

They made a run of Dickerson Esp Wasps? Didn't know that! Stiff and slick huh? Yeah the new ESP plastic can be that way brand new sometimes. I'd bet with some time you could beat one of those in real nice though. I found a beat up 5 or 6 claw Esp Buzzz recently and it's actually really nice, all flexy and grippy, maybe one day it will see daylight.

I pull out a majority of my discs out of my bag usually around early October when the temps start to get down there and swap in Gstar fliers. They've been absolutely indestructible so far and I've hit a lot of trees in freezing temps.

I suspect that ESP flex stuff they're making again pretty darn indestructible too for the Michigan winters I play in. An ESP Flex Wasp would be a really nice flier I bet and probably a beefcake brand new and flat.

I haven't felt the new esp flex to compare to the old style the old stuff was almost indestructible I used to throw flx drones and still use a flx predator.

What's weird with discraft is their regular store website does not have all of their discs for sale. If you go to team discraft and shop through player and their own merch branded discs there's a bunch more. They have 5 packs of Chris Dickerson wasps for 88 dollars right now. They were cheaper a couple months ago though.

If anybody wants some ESP Wasps from a couple years ago, 2020 or 21 I'd guess hit me up. They're terrible colored for anything but snow rounds but fly nice.

I'm honestly over all of Discrafts shenanigans at this point. I don't think I'll be switching to rocs either because of Innnovas garbage QC either. MVP makes readily available, throwable discs in the 5 speed range. I'm leaning that way since they run the putter game already anyway.

So the new ESP FLX I did just recently check out at the local shop. I squeezed up quite a few and my impressions were that it feels just a tad more firm and beefy than an Innova Gstar. I suspect they will fly a tad bit more stable than Gstar fliers of the same flight numbers.

I'm down to my last Gstar Firebird, they had none in stock but did have a small stack of really nice ESP FLX Raptors and I'm thinking that would make a fine replacement if I lose any more.
