Definition of a Noodle Arm

internet 400 maybe...

No seriously. Maybe it's the courses I play or something, but I feel I'm a pretty well rounded player that just doesn't stack up to the local scene. I do beat my friends that have been playing longer than me but almost every one I see is dropping bombs! I even have both editions of dgm which has wheel measurements. This is what leads to my pre tourney stress.

Super Noodle Here! Under 300 consistently. Might feel good on some down hill on occasion. Don't mind it at all though. Short game is where it's at anyhow! Problem there is, that is in the works too!:)

Anything less than 400' is noodle.

why don't you start a poll, the average reported by DGCR users is around 300-350 with their very best drives stopping just short of 400. (this is not my average, I am still working to get this)

and 400 downhill with the wind does not count as your average drive

What hair I have left is as white as snow... I can put it where I want it at about 200 - 225 feet. I could probably throw it farther, but I would probably hurt myself doing it. By "playing my game", I don't play from the brush very often and usually have a good shot at the basket with my second shot... mostly pars.

I'm very proud of my noodle arm.

I do live in Texas. Some of the holes are 600 to 800 feet long... I know on the tee, that there will be no three...

Dang it! I should have thought about that! Hind site is always 20/20. lol Well that makes me feel a little more confident. To be honest, I wasn't sure how to take that term. I practice on a flat stretch of land, it's a housing development that no one has built on yet. (Perks of the tanking housing market!) I've got 300ft marked off. Ive passed it a 3 or 4 times, not enough to brag about it. I would say I'm average 250ft +/- 25ft.

...which can leave me either a decent second shot, or a healthy one! lol

So, what's below a Noodle Arm??? A soggy, wet, overcooked Noodle Arm?? That would be me :p

I would say I have a noodle arm. (avg good drive 270') And it is nice to see some others admit it as well. I agree with tallpaul in that most people are inaccurate with their claimed average distance. They say they throw 350-400' but I have only seen about 2 people in my life around here throw that far ever.

Lots of reasons:
-overestimation
-never realistically measured
-you hit a distance one time and then that is your new "avg" distance
-most courses don't need the long bombs
-inaccurate distances on tee signs

I was shocked when I bought a 100' tape measure and some plastic cones and marked off distances in a field- I actually threw much shorter on average than I thought I did. (a football field works great too to measure distance around 300')

However, I can compete on most courses because I have a decent short game and good accuracy.

I think that if you throw all the discs in your bag and they all land basically in the same area(within 20 feet of each other) as mine do, then you are a noodle arm cause you can't get your drivers up to speed or rotation or snap, ect.
I am very consistant with all my discs out at 250 to 275. I get some to go 300 but the conditions(wind/ect.) usually boost the distance.
Have a friend that throws 300 consistantly and sometimes he goes 350 but never more than that.
This is all measured out on flat ground with a Stanley measuring wheel. At the course though he has thrown close to 375/380 on a slightly downhill hole. That shouldn't count as true distance I wouldn't think.

Well on balls out distance shots I can throw 300-320. From what I have seen locally I am a noodle arm.

By your definition, I definitely have a noodle arm. Tested on a football field (about 65 to 75 yards = 195 to 225 feet). My new Katana only goes about 15 feet farther than I can throw my Roadrunner...

I am a proud noodle arm. I may not make over 280' regularly but a lot of you guys who can knock 300+ have an upshot that needs a shot of viagra. I am 150' back and park it and you are 60' and still end up with a longer putt...not always of course, but it happens a lot.

That hurt Bill, b/c it's true. :(

Once met a guy out at Z-Boaz Park. Let him play threw and he was raving about how great Destroyers were.

He looked like a garbage pale kid. Throwing destroyers only exagerate the noodle arm, if you have it.

I'd never seen discs want to turn so hard left after leaving the hand.

I agree. I average anywhere from 280 to 340, but my upshot is deadly. If it's not a chain banger, it's definately parked about 85% of the time.

If your drive is ballin' but you're upshot is totally and completely cock-free, then I'm definately not worried about you beatin' me.:)

you guys are making me feel alot better about not being able to throw 300 consistently...or at all.

I thought I threw over 350 once with a tail wind, so I ran and got my measuring wheel and it wasn't even 300.

Unless you live in Texas; where length is their primary course design asset; just how often does one need to throw 400 feet?

not good for me, but all the courses I have played and the ones I play now all require distance and if you can't put it out there on a few holes then your playing catch up all day.
Oh and the courses I'm talking about are in MO and OR

This is where I am at. I can throw a TL 300' and my higher speed drivers are within 20'.
