Here are some pics of my simian cart.
Made out of 1/2" copper pipe and various connector pieces. Just a T with some lawnmower tires held in place with pins. Seat still completely usable. JB weld to hold it together, only power tool was a drill press for the holes in the axle. Cost roughly $35 for everything except the wheels.
Need lighter wheels though - plastic preferably as these are steel and solid rubber, but serve for proof of concept.
Breaks down to what you see in the last pic.
Will need to use it some to test it's durability
How did you fit the 1/2" pipe? I tried with PVC and i could only use the bottom holes which left my bag too high. Also the PVC bowed so it only lasted about 5 mins before i cancelled the idea
Not exactly sure what you are asking. Why would you only be able to use the bottom holes? They are all the same size...
I too thought of PVC first. Basically I wanted something I could "Lego" together without a bunch of tools, since I have none. I quickly realized what you did - since the holes are so small, I'd have to use 1/2" PVC, which is super flimsy. That's when I realized copper pipe has the same type of connectors and is also pretty cheap. I want to say the axle goes through the 4th hole up. It is tough to get it in there since they are designed for 1/2 rods, and 1/2 pipe is actually 5/8", but after a few times it loosened up.
Received a Silverback (thanks Ian!) this past weekend and wow what a bag.:thmbup::thmbup:
Copper has a low strength to weight ratio and no memory, so when it bends it doesn't spring back very well. Small diameter aluminum electrical conduit might work better/weigh less, although I don't know as much about the fittings selection.
Lmao @ 6-7 month wait! Imagine how much money he's got to play with from people's orders. Doing what he wants with till they get their bag. Crazy!
I get mad enough at PayPal for not releasing funds after selling something on eBay. This takes it to another level.
But then again, where else you gonna get your simian? And they are nice!
