i have watched videos of people throwing backhand drives. they dont release the disc flat. its at an angle when they throw it and then it flips up and flattens out. if i do that the disc just turns and will never flatten out. is that because they get more spin on the disc and the spin makes the disc flatten out?

They are pulling the disc in a straight line, you are flailing your arm around.
It's okay, it's how most everyone starts and many continue to throw.

If you want more detail just say so. I recomend watching discrafts beginner video hosted by Scott papa.

Either they're throwing the disc with more snap or the disc is understable...or both.

Isn't this the "hyzer flip"?

I think you have to hold the disc that way all the way through the throw - it might force you rotate your shoulder and wrist and change your back posture a little bit.

Yes it is Johnny, tell him what he's won! :p

It's a lot easier to throw a stable to understable disc slightly hyzer for a laser straight drive then it is throwing flat and hitting that S-curve sweet spot in speed.

Step 1. Throw seasoned fairway driver with some slight hyzer, maintaining the hyzer plane all the while and including the follow through.

Step 2. Collect birdie or par with ease.

Step 3. Laugh at your noob friend who has to collect his Boss or Katana from the deep rough on the left side.

It's that easy. :)

^^^

bro d is right and most pro players don't throw flat. They throw it with a touch of hyzer and because of the aerodynamics involved (HSS) the disc flattens itself out. Steve Brinster is one of the coolest people to watch because of this. His HSS is so pronounced you can watch it for 200-250' before you can tell if the shot was a flex, hyzer flip, or annie. Its just so cool to watch it slowly correct itself because of the velocity he generates.

Oh yeah!!!!!!!!!!

Late at night all systems go
You have come to see the show
We do our best You're the rest
You make it real you know
There is a feeling deep inside
That drives you ****in' mad
A feeling of a hammerhead
You need it oh so bad

Adrenaline starts to flow
You're thrashing all around
Acting like a maniac
Whiplash

Bang your head against the stage
Like you never did before
Make it ring Make it bleed
Make it really sore
In a frenzied madness
with your leather and your spikes
Heads are bobbing all around
It's hot as Hell tonight

Adrenaline starts to flow
You're thrashing all around
Acting like a maniac
Whiplash

Here on the stage the Marshall noise
is piercing through your ears
It kicks your ass kick your face
Exploding feeling nears
Now is the time to let it rip
To let it ****in' loose
We are gathered here to maim and kill
Cause this is what we choose

Adrenaline starts to flow
You're thrashing all around
Acting like a maniac

WHIPLASH!!!

The show is through the metal is gone
It is time to hit the road
Another town Another gig
Again we will explode
Hotel rooms and motorways
Life out here is raw
But we will never stop
We will never quit
cause we're Metallica

Adrenaline starts to flow
You're thrashing all around
Acting like a maniac

pros snap the disc hard enough that it turns over that way. it's called a hyzer flip because they release it at a hyzer angle (as if you were trying to make it turn hard left throwing RHBH) and it will flatten out for a long flight. they're usually not throwing the biggest of all the drivers but smaller rimmed fairway drivers.
