How Far Off Are Disc Weights?

I've found incorrect markings on Innova and MVP discs and learned not to trust the marked weight. I like to weigh them before purchasing when possible.

i got a brand new sb aviar from a friend for 5 bucks because he thought it was too light for him at 166...turns out it was a 175!!

Anything that says 175 is always more

This is why the weight cap is 180 and most manufacturers shoot for 175. That way they don't have to worry about as many discs being overweight by accident.

Universal cap is 200g. The cap for a specific mold is 8.3 x its diameter in cm. So putters and drivers are usually around 175-176g. And mids, being larger diameter, are usually around 180g. They are all listed on the tech standards sheet.

not always true. i've found a good bit of variation with drivers marked 175, but putters/mids tend to be more accurately marked. i've got a lot of 175 marked putters that are 174.
