How many states have over 100 courses?

Looks like Wisconsin is the only state when you cross the border to leave, you are in another state/province that has at least 100 courses.

Before DGCR, I used to regularly keep track of this with all things a windows paint file of a US/Canada map on my computer. Here's what the last update (summer of 2010) looked like...

Might be cold but we got courses up in this bitch! WI, IA, MN is where the course baggers need to be at!

Michigan is close (WI, IN, OH), just ignore Canada.

Illinois is also close (WI, IA, MO, IN), just needs KY (88) to step it up a bit. (I was surprised to see that KY does not have 100 courses yet).

Interesting that only three states currently ranked in the top 24 (Virginia, Washington, and glaringly, Illinois) have not had courses included in an Am or Pro Worlds. Kentucky has BG Ams and part of Cincy Worlds. Of the bottom 26 states in course count, only Alabama and Arizona have hosted a few Worlds.

Them's fightin' words! ;)

Thanks for posting Thai map from 2010. I'm surprised that BC lead the way back then. I wonder if that is still the case.

Don't let the numbers fool you, Alaska only has 1 or 2 courses worth playing. It's not for lack of good terain though.

Ohio is right there also, when you consider that West Virginia is really part of Virginia. Then yeah, Kentucky needs to step it up a notch.

Anyone have data on courses to population ratio and courses per square mile?

Myrtle beach needs more courses for sure. I vacation there every year and it's sad there is only one half decent course.

Yep. Definitely the weak corner of the state.....well, basically the eastern third. The further west you go in S.C., the denser the course presence.

I have 64 courses within 50 miles of my house. I still need to play 12 of them, but two are listed as unplayable.

Using July 1 2012 population estimates, since I'm too lazy to grab more recent ones --- Iowa still leads, barely, over South Dakota. Iowa has owned the "per capita" title since at least the early 90s.

1 or 2. I have data from June 2005, and it shows Texas 122 and Iowa 101. Cali and Minn were tied at 91.

Those numbers, taken with the current numbers, are shocking.

8 States over 200 & 17 over 100, just ten years later. Wowzers!

I guess the only disclaimer on the 2005 figures is that I wasn't on DGCR yet, so I got the counts from somewhere else ---- most likely the PDGA directory.

I thought you guys said that the sport wasn't growing?

And who'ld a thunk Iowa would by a bastion of disc golf?
