I also feel like I am really harsh on myself. Whenever I have had the opportunity to play with random strangers on the course, some advanced and some not, I have held my own if not beat the other person...and I have only been playing for 3 months.

My skills generally lend people to believe that I am a decent advanced player but I for some reason cant get them all to show up at the same time in a tournament.

3 - Still terrible, but I'm making an effort to get better.
4 - Hey, somebody's been practicing, but still not that good at it.
5 - So, so. Sometimes it looks like I know what I'm doing, sometimes not.
6 - Somebody's been practicing, and it sort of shows now.
7 - Not too shabby, usually competent but sucking still looms close in the rear-view mirror.
8 - Seasoned DG'er, usually good if not decent results, occasional whoops.
9 - Steady as a Roc, almost never sucking. Almost.
10 - Climo-like, you nearly go into shock if your shot is off.

I think I was getting to where I could have been 900+ rated, now I am in a slump and doubt I would get 850. My driving has improved slightly, but EVERYTHING else has suffered. I used to be very competative in heavily wooded courses, now I am just in need of an intervention. Too much time spent improving my soccer skills and getting back into running and not enough time with plastic in my hand.

Putting: 6 - 20' in I consider my self deadly...outside of that range its a crap shoot
Mid-range (fairway navigation): 5 - definitely room for improvement
Approaches/upshots: 5 - uphill shots are the death of me...
Getting out of trouble/rough: 4 - I should be much better considering where my drives land
Backhand skill: 5 - constantly working on my anny lines
Forehand skill: 5 - could be better, but only use to get out of trouble and long anny drives
Overhand skill: 1 - I'd be just as well off throwing a cinderblock

I've played a handfull of events- everytime, even on courses that I play singles leauge, I'm shooting 20 over which is not the norm!
So if I quit playing events (for the sake of arguement) how do I measure up?

Course Management skill: 9 - I'm pretty darn good at picking the right disc and shot. I do well caddying for people as well, as long as I've seen them play a few rounds before.

I don't think that highly of my game really, the scale just slides of really fast
