This has been a rough summer. I'm definately not playing as much as I did last year and I'd say that I went from in the high 7's to even low 8's in some categories tosomewhere in the 6's this year.

Driving - PY=7, CY=6/5
Putting - CY=9, PY=6 (maybe even a 5! I have missed a LOT of putts this year)
Midrange - PY=7, CY=6
Forehand - PY=8, CY=7
Backahand - PY=7, CY=6
Overhand - PY=9, CY=7
Trouble - PY=7, CY=4

Scale:
1 - complete and utter n00b.
2 - I've been discgolfing before, but I called it frolfing
3 - Still terrible, but I'm making an effort to get better.
4 - Hey, somebody's been practicing, but still not that good at it.
5 - So, so. Sometimes it looks like I know what I'm doing, sometimes not.
6 - Somebody's been practicing, and it sort of shows now.
7 - Not too shabby, usually competent but sucking still looms close in the rear-view mirror.
8 - Seasoned DG'er, usually good if not decent results, occasional whoops.
9 - Steady as a Roc, almost never sucking. Almost.
10 - Climo-like, you nearly go into shock if your shot is off.

I am sure I could easily be a 940-960 rated player if my putting was not so poor. I find that when I have zero confidence in my putting, I press my driving and approaches to try to make up for it, and more often than not, that gets me into trouble. On those rounds I have scored a 950 ratings, it was because my putting was serviceable and I can let me drives flow more smoothly, knowing I did not have to park it under the basket every time.

Right now, I feel completely confident in my driving with absolutely no confidence in my putting. Of the three rounds I played this week, I scored at or just below my average for those courses, but in each case I had blown at least five to six putts a round that were twenty feet or less. It is in my head that I could have set personal bests at those courses this week because for the first time ever I feel comfortable with everything that is in my bag (drivers and midranges anyway) and feel no desire to make any changes whatsoever.

A couple of years ago when I was in the same putting funk, I took out all my putters and started putting with my Z Buzzz. During my putting practice this week I have actually noticed that I putt better with my Star SM Rocs so the few rounds I am going to sneak in this holiday week I expect to do better than I have been doing for the last few weeks.

I am a very average player. Increasing my 6 putting number would help tremendously.

Forehand is weak. Overhand is rated above 5 but I have a shoulder socket issue which limits distance.

I've put a lot of work into my BH and my putting, including my jump putt which I use for approach shots. I'm usually really consistent with my BH on anything in the 240'-400' range. My long putts don't always go in but they pretty much always stop near the basket. My putting has been off lately, more like a 6, but I'm usually consistent with them. Anything I don't make I tend to hit the basket or leave within 10' for a gimmie come back.

The things I'm focusing on these days are increasing the distance of all my throwing styles, developing a more consistent FH and getting better at powering down a BH approach. Part of the reason I rely on 120' jump putts so much is I'm not especially good at throwing a backhand approach shot in the 140-200' range. I can hit a 20' wide target from 300' with my putter no problem most of the time, but move me in another 100' and I tend to suck. Need to field practice more from that range.

My FH and OH look good when they're on, but I haven't put in enough practice with either to be as consistent with them as I'd like. The one thing I'm proud of myself for doing in regards to FH is learning how to flick ANY of my discs, whether it's a Wizard, Buzz, Stalker or Predator. My Predator and Orc are still a little much for me, but at least I always know how the Predator will behave on a FH. I've also put a lot of work in on my rollers, though they're far from perfect. Regarding trouble shots, I have a lot of options available to me I'm confident enough to use, like OH, FH, FH roller, left handed flicks and FH rollers and of course BH.

Sounds like fun...

Still new, can throw about 300 but working on consistency. Just started getting below par lately

Putting a major issue, mostly mental. Mostly backhand (450' or so, open field) but decent with forehand up to 300' or so. Only throw overhand if I'm in major trouble and need to go up and over.

Driving - 7
Putting - 5 (good inside of 20'... not so good further out... yet)
Midrange - 6
Approach - 8 (saves my putting)
Trouble - 9 (as we all know, there's only one way to get good at this)
Backhand - 7
Forehand - 8
Overhand - 5

This is lately... I've had a lot of improvement in the last 2 months with my backhand... the forehand has always been there, but the older I get, the harder it is on my shoulder... so I try to use it sparingly.

I quit rolling a long time ago...

decision making: a big fat...goose egg. 0. nada. zilch. my decision making skills are horrendous and its what separates me from more advanced players. they make good decisions and have great strategy. I sometimes dont stop to think about other options i could take on a shot until after i have already thrown and given myself a horrible lie. :wall:

my games probably a solid 5. i like playing wooded courses, so if my drive doesn't hit a tree i'm happy cuz my approach and midrange game can get me close enough. i'm getting better though. hopefully be a 7 by the end of the year and i'll be incredibly happy with my improvement and my game.
