The major pros that showed up were also there to host clinics each night. Only a small handfull of other pros showed up. Being trophy only I am sure it was not worth the travel expenses for many of them.dehaas said:

I still dont see what everybody on this MB is so upset about, anyway you slice it, it was a fine event. Harold, JP, and the rest of Innova East put on the same quality tournament that they spent the last 12 years trying to establish. This year they got to actually turn a profit instead of raising 75k to just give away to unappreciative pros.

I am kind of curious what happened to the Ace Fund. I didn't hear of any aces yet there was no throw off for the pool.

Just to clarify my position, I thought Innova put on a great tournament (and I enjoyed working the tournament) and I am not opposed to having a trophy only amateur USDGC event but I think the handicapped scoring is just ridiculous. The projection formula obviously needs work a great majority of the field scored significantly above their projection. I also believe that crowning the US Disc Golf Champion based on a handicapped event is retarded and the antithesis of a prestigious title. While I don't like making the comparison, can anyone come up with any other sport that does anything close to a handicap system for a large prominent championship event?

really guys, horse racing? do you know how expensive a horse is to purchase and maintain? greyhound racing is where disc golf should be looking to for handicapping advice and how to foster a public image. i bet most race horse, before they become fuel for greyhound racing, live better lives than most pro disc golfers.
