When does an ace count?

So I was wondering, does an ace only count if you're actually playing a full round or does it still count if you're, let's say, practicing your drive on one hole over and over? Just wondering when you would actually consider an ace to be a ace.

My 2 cents would be that a practice ace is not the same as an ace in a scored round, but hey you know what they say about opinions.

It's what counts for you, in your mind, whatever you decide may affect your credibility - you may only count an ace in a sanctioned tourney that the ace pot is over $100, or maybe you count an ace that you dreamed about (I'm pretty sure some people do that).
