Seriously I'm so tired of all the phantom rules our sport has and people who think they know the rules that don't. Read a rule book. It takes like 20 min.

I'm faaaaaar from a rule nazi.
That wasn't what I was saying in this thread. What I hate are people who think they know the rules and clearly do not.
There was a situation at an event this weekend where a player crossed an OB path into another area of grass running behing the hole. Now, there is absolutely no reason that it should be IB, but it was just the walking path listed as OB.
The player gets ready to throw his shot and the group says "hey you are OB." the player then says "no, its just the path." The group says "no, its path and beyond."
The player knew he was IB so said "I'll just play a provisional."
Here is where it get's good.
"You can't play a provisional"
Um.....

And almost every rules problem I see during rounds has one thing in common, no one has a rule book on them. Someone called a bogus rule on me a few months ago so I whipped my rule book out and asked them to show me the rule they were claiming I broke. If you don't read the rule book, at least have one with you!

Ok, hate is a little too strong a word. But it is annoying as hell to have to be the guy that calls even the most basic stuff. Don't need the distraction

You should have that person blacklisted from disc golf. I mean after all, you told me all the hundreds of things you do for the sport on a yearly basis. Also, how important of a person you are too. Dont they know who they are messing with? I would make that phone call you threatened me with on those evil rule breakers and have them blacklisted from the sport!!
For those of you that dont know exactly what I am talking about....just PM me and I will fill you in.
oh no, not the MTL blacklist. How could I ever face my family again! The shame of it all, the shame...
I carry the rules book in my bag, in a zipper-lock to keep dry, and I pencil in my own rules, then highlight them. Talk about making tournament's fun because no one else has a rule book.
I think that if you are nice as possible when explaining the rules you may be labeled as "helpful" as opposed to "rule nazi".
Example. The first tourney I ever played I threw a disc OB into the road. I did know that you threw from the point that the disc went OB, but I did not know that you were supposed to go IB a meter first. I threw from the road, a guy in my group walked up and said, "its not a big deal but you cant throw from OB like that" I said I was sorry and did not know. He explained to me what I should have done and was a nice guy about it.
