Roc vs. Buzzz, to end all wars

Is this where I post about how great glow coyotes are?
Yes. :|
MD2 has been taking over my bag. Speed of a buzzz but almost as workable as a roc. I got all of my mid shots covered with just the one mold.
Quit making me want to try one of these!
I throw with a roc and a shark. Both are beat to heck. Bought the shark new and liked it new, but found the roc. How does the new roc compare to the beat roc?
A new DX Rancho Roc is pretty nice. Really good HSS, you have to put your butt into it to turn one over much, and it has healthy but not too harsh of fade.

feel like reviving this thread. it always ends up amusing.

so id like to change my stance on the superiority of the Roc. i used to think that the Roc was more versatile based on how it beats in but now having thrown many of the different buzzzes out there i would say the Roc is lacking.
First, the biggest difference between these two is the height each needs to achieve 'x' distance. the Roc needs a considerable amount more height to make the same distance as a buzzz. and on low lines you have to put a lil extra on a Roc to make sure it can make the distance.
Second, the beat-in or wear stages of both are actually very comparable. both start out stable to slightly overstable and beat into turnover discs (the Roc takes a lil more time). the only real difference is that the base plastic of the rocs hole a overstable line and have a beater wear pattern to them.
third, plastic availability. the Buzzz is available in all but one plastic standard (cryZtal). the Roc is available in only 2 (4or5 if you include those garbage non-rancho molds). and the plastic is wear i think the buzzz ultimately wins. as you go 'up' in plastic the buzzz holds a more and more stable HSS and gains more LSS. so if you want to get a more stable version of the buzzz you have you can go to almost any store and pick one up. however, if you want a premium Roc you gotta pay some ridiculous price for it.
fourth, how well they respond to the wind and elements. this is really the only spot i think the Roc still holds its ground, and not by much. a flat top buzzz in any of the premium plastics will hold its line in any of the same wind conditions a Roc would. unfortunately the base plastic buzzzes do not.
fifth, this could either the most important or the least, their one disc only capabilities. if you were going to play with only 1 single disc (not mold) which would yield you the best results over time. the roc has the advantage as far as weather factors and the buzzz has the edge in distance capabilities. both are very workable in the putter, mid, and driver categories.
so for me...now, i would say the buzzz is best. it is cheaper and has more variety in the single mold then the rancho Roc. if i were to buy a D/DX, Pro/X, ESP/Star, and a Champ/Z version of each disc my costs would be something like this; Buzzz $45.46 and Rancho Roc $67.48 (DGCR prices and USDGC rocs at $25 each) thats a big price difference.

I carry a classic Roc and a Underside stamped Roc, and I carry an Elite Z Buzzz and a Cryztal Buzzz...

The Rocs and the Buzzzs both have a place in my bag and I don't think I will ever be without both.

Agreed. Since my previous post, I have begun using the Buzzz as my go-to mid in place of the Roc and have found it to be quite a bit more versatile. I find that I am grabbing my fairway drivers less and less because the Buzzz is capable of more distance, at least for me. I traded in my Roc, and truthfully have not once wished I had it in my bag since then.

this is the thread that never ends, it just goes on and on my friends. some people started arguing, not knowing what it was. and they'll continue arguing forever just because....

hence the irony of the title, "to end all wars". its an interesting topic, that should never end, 2 of the most popular discs used for the same thing. plus it beats having a new one of these threads started every week cause some nub hasnt learned how to use the search feature.

the buzzz not only replaced my Rocs but it took over most of the leopards job as well. have you tried the cryZtal Buzzz yet? that thing is awesome! took my drone out of the bag. it flies better and more consistently.

good points

Interesting also that you're seeing overlap with the leopard. I'll have to watch for that when my ESP buzzz beats in more. It'd be nice to take discs out of the bag.

Does the FLX BUZZZ have more glide. Just woundering because mine seems to. I have one elite Z one elite FLX and one elite X & the FLX seems to have much more glid. They are all in almost new condition. The FLX is the newest...

NOOOOO! I am having flashbacks to middle school and the 10 hr. bus ride to Space Camp and the annoying voices of the girls that sang the never ending song . Now I will not be able to get that stupid song out of my head!

Thanks GLong :|

Roc - All purpose multi use disc.
If i had to carry only 1 approach disc, this would be it. Mainly an all purpose disc - it can be a driver, putter, etc. This disc CAN do the same things as the BUZZZ, it's just that the buzzz does "straight" better.

Buzzz - Single Purpose Disc "i go straight. I can turnover if i get thrown hard enough". Makes a good driver and long range putter.

i've carried both, and at the same time.
To me, they are compliments, not rivals. - The strengths of one are the weaknesses of the other. But, if you had both in your bag, and lost one, you could survive (and not take a score hit) with the roc, whereas losing the roc might cause issues. - Lose the buzzz and you think "i gotta finesse this roc to be straight; lose the roc and you think, "what other discs do i have in my bag, i'm not sure i can get my Buzzz to take this Roc line."

SMYITH >> i dont know how to remove part of a quote but keep the rest yada yada but the cryZtal buzzz replaced your drone? could you elaborate on that for me? IMO its apples and oranges . . .

I dont carry either but have and I know I could do more with a single Buzzz than I could a single Roc and I don't see where losing the single Roc would hurt if you still had a Buzzz. Where the Roc shines IMO, is the way it breaks in letting you have a single mold (not disc) excel at many aspects of your game.

Another way of saying it I guess is; If we are talking only one disc; I like the Buzzz and similar discs for line shaping versatility. If we are talking 1 mold instead of just one physical disc to where I could carry as many as I want, I like the Rocs diversity across the stages and carry a few of them; although the Buzzz due to large part being available in different plastics is no slouch on this either, just as a single Roc is also pretty shapeable.
