Anyone else hate the bag tag jingle?

I love the concept of the bag tag. I play for tags as often as possible.

Still, my tag stays in a side zipper compartment.

It is not that I have such a low tag that I am hiding it, 24, it is I hate hearing it beat against my bag.

I think it 'looks cool' having tags on your bag, but it has just fried my last nerve, walking around to the bag tag jingle.

Anyone else park their tags in a zipper compartment?

Most clubs that I'm familiar with have a rule that your tag must be prominently displayed on your bag. This is in order to prevent people from hiding low numbers and getting challenged.

Yes, the JC Sharpshooters, my tag, have the same rule. I generally just tell, "Hey, I have a tag." Pull it out, show it, then put it back in the zipper.

As I said, I think it looks cool on the bag, but very, very irritating to hear all day playing.

I'm not a fan to the jingle as well. I have 3 tags and hang them on different places on my bag to keep the noise level down. You could always suggest that next year they make them out of something different like plastic, leather or wood.

Sounds like a design flaw:wall: You are a coward if you hide your bag tag:thmbdown:

At 24, no one really bothers me about it, but my friend has 3, and I beat him often in casual rounds. If I ever won that, I would probably be forced to keep it hanging, so that is why I never bother to play for his tag.

I mean, I do not put up with discs banging around in my bag, I surely am not hanging a piece of tin to bang up my bag and discs. We were starting our league, and we were thinking about using markers as tags. That way there is no excuse to not have it in the bag, and no excuse for it to be hitting your bag.

Masking tape to the ring connector.

Yes, it bothers me. But I just ignore it becasue it's all around me.
All the stuff on my bag and cart is secured so it doesn't jingle.

Nope, if you have the number 1 tag or even in the top 10, why would you hide it? Be proud of it! If you aren't a pro, that is the best bragging rights you will get in disc golf, and everytime I hear it from other bags I wanna check the tags and see if I can move up.

If you read the OP, he's not hiding it, he's keeping it from making noise.

I feel the same way about the jingle. There are some guys in our league who carry tags from 3 or 4 other clubs and the noise gets annoying real quick....cool guys but annoying noise from their tags.

The jingle doesn't bother me. In fact ill add my yearly pdga renewal tags on my clip with my other club tags to make more noise during tourneys. It really does drive some people crazy.

Have a pic of how you do this?

Tags are different, but if you simply wrap a little tape around whatever is making noise, it'll muffle it, whether that's the tag itself or the keychain circle thingy against the bag's rims.

My tags for whatever reason seem to stay snug in that notch on my Innova Competition bag between the side pocket and the drink holder. Unless I lift or drop the bag hard, I don't hear much jingle.

I dont' see what the big deal is. Mine to clang, but I guess I am so used to it, I don't even notice it anymore

The bag tag jingle (sung to the tune of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star")

I've a number, you do, too
So I have to challenge you.

If you win, then you can brag
That you took the lower tag.

If you lose, then this is true,
The higher tag will go to you.

The noise bothers you that much?

I keep mine in the mesh side pocket of my Innova DG bag (so you can still see it, sort of). I dont do it for noise supression but for security. I've lost tags that have been snagged on a bush, tree, etc & come off. Plus our tags are plastic.
I dont carry any extra tags, last years tags, trinkets, etc. Its too much extra junk to carry around!
Have your club consider a 'Rag-tag':

We have these & they are completely silent! (my #1 'Rag' Tag shown above)

If there is a rule to keep it visible you shouldn't hide it. First thing I do at league night is check how many bags have tags and then challenge them. Fix the sound or don't get a tag.

yup I know that noise, buggs me too. I do cary my tag visable at all times tho, its plastic and bumps against my coffee cup. I'm about to get leather for my tags, just need the tools for that... My personal club fellows will take your tag away if its not properly displayed.....we had a couple of sand baggers who had low numbers, and kept them hidden....no bueno.
