Trouble switching for Buzzz to Roc.

I have been playing for a year and a half and I just recently switched to rocs and I cant seem to get the distance with them as I did the buzz. I can constantly throw buzzz around 320 to 350. Cant seem to get more than 250 - 270. Any advice would be a big help

the buzzz is just faster than the roc. all there is to it.

the roc can be pushed out close to a buzzz but at the end of the day is more controllable and achieves more lines than a buzzz for me. so i'll stick with the roc for most shots.

i do reach for a buzzz for sidearm approaches. it beats a roc in that category for me.

Give the roc a lil more height.
Once the roc beats a lil itll stretch a lil futther.

Im not one to just swap discs. The way each disc compliments the others is what makes a bag refined.
You may find a fairway, or a different fairway will give you the missing shot.

If i went buzzz instead of wasp/comet combo id swith clones for xls and avengers.

I threw nothing but discraft for a while but just recently threw a destroyer and an eagle in the bag so I figured give the roc a shot

It's been said often here, Buzzz and Roc are two different discs. Just because they're their manufacturers' flagship midranges doesn't mean that they're interchangeable.

If youre really set on pure dc you could go sp hurricanes and torques/shockwaves with possibly an overstable clone or talon for the eagle.
Dga mids are really nice and severely slept on.

This is so true. I like the buzz and I like the roc, but for different shots because they're very different discs. Buzz's are straighter out of the box, a little longer w/ more glide and better for turnovers. Rocs have that consistent fade and will hold a hyzer all the way to the ground. Rocs handle forehand snap better for me and the bead just feels better in my hand for backhands. I use both but for different reasons.

Don't switch discs b/c you want a disc that flies the exact same as a disc that you already own from a different manufacturer. If X disc is working for you then why change. Switch or add discs to compliment each other and allow you to make different shots or hit different lines easier.

DC's roc equivalent is the wasp, I think, FWIW.

Unless you're angling for an innova sponsorship, just use the discs that work best for you and don't worry about mixing manufacturers.

nope I wish I was that good to try and get sponsored but Im jusy trying new stuff having fun just trying to figure out what was going on with my distance.

I use a buzzz for most midrange shots and I have been thinking about try to incorporate a roc for shots that my buzzz goes too fast/far on. I've messed with a mako a lil bit and that thing is dead nuts straight but EVERYBODY rocks the roc so I feel like I might be missing out

The Buzzz likes to be thrown on lines similar to that of a driver. It likes low, fast lines.

The Roc likes distance lines more commonly associated with a putter (or other slower discs)- Give it height to work with. The Roc is slower but has nice glide so it works very well with a little more air under it.

Just bring it out into the field with the buzzz, throw your buzzz and then make a conscious change to give the Roc more height. See if the distances don't even out a bit more for you.

I throw both the Roc and the Buzzz. For me, I can get my San Marino Star Roc the same distance as my ESP Buzzz. The Roc will go straigth as an arrow and die right (LHBH). The buzzz (beat up) will turn and then come back to its original start point (if thrown with a gentle hyzer releas). The buzzz will hold an anhyzer line better than my Roc at this point, but I bet a DX Roc would beg to differ. My Roc will hold an hyzer line better at full power, but my Buzzz will glide much longer on a nice gentle hyzer (say 80% power, otherwise, it flips flat). A new ESP Buzzz won't turn as much though.

All that being said, people are right, the Roc does need a little more height to go as far, but not that much more.

I can throw both at around 280 I'd say (at normal full power aka game situation).

Don't switch. Like others have said these are really two different types of mid. I threw a Buzzz when I first started, but now I prefer the flight of the Obex. My current kids are Obex/Ibex/Pro-D Drone. I've got a star Aero that's fighting it's way into the bag. I got an 11x kc pro recently that I may try out, but I've already got three other Obex waiting in line.

Rocs start out more overstable and are a slower, glide dominant mid.

The buzz is more neutral and is more speed based for a mid.

The Roc requires a little more height and some breaking in, then it will be just as long as a Buzz assuming no low ceilings in play.

They are very different discs. This is about the 5th time I've said this on here.........ready.........it will blow your mind.........you can have a Buzzz AND a Roc in the bag! I never understood the "you either throw Rocs or Buzzz's" mentality. I know a badass player that carries 3 Rocs and 3 Buzzz's at all times. They can compliment each other just fine. The Buzzz does go farther. It pushes the mid catagory almost into a fairway driver. the Roc is a line shaper and can do things the Buzzz can't. The Buzzz can do things the Roc can't. They go together like peanut butter and jelly.

How many peoples brains did I just fry? There are some minds out there can't handle that you can put a Roc and Buzzz in the bag together. Its so unnatural I know. The world as we know it will never be the same.

You probably lost most people on the word "different".
Hey Cooter, how are Bo and Luke?

My mind has been blown for sure. Had a great ace race this morning without ever hitting an ace and it being stupid cold. Sweet college football schedule today, looks like Fla is about to squash LSU and I get to watch my Ga Bulldogs run wild in a bit. The SEC east may be stronger than the west for the first time in years. And now you tell me a roc and a buzz can peacefully coexit?? Trifecta.

I gotta go clean some brain matter off the wall. :gross:
