What's gonna happen with the ti molds if any of the discraft pros leave, say if emac joins dd over dc? Its not like its a hot stamp that can be changed on the fly.

Don't think those would change. They won the titles while under discraft throwing discraft. They likely won't get any profit on sales now if they even did but I don't see why discraft would change them any time soon. Make as much off the name as you can while you can.

Discraft would have to change the mold for legal reasons. You can't sell someones name.

ohhhhh geeez, if that happens I can only imagine the fools in the market place trying to sell their Ti plastic for a premium because it has the Mc/PP tooling like ppl are with the innova pre numbers type stuff

It would depend on the agreement between the parties. Remember the artist formerly known as Prince? He lost the right to record under his own name while under contract to a particular company.

Discraft, even if they had the right to continue to sell Emac or PP Ti discs might not want to publicize Pros playing for another team.

You are right. Paul can seem gruff but the man really does care and works his a$$ off for this event, as does the other Flyers members.

Paul Jay gets a pass on this. Moonlighting with ZZ Top and running major events could wear on anyone.

That says what I was going to say.

I hope the pros have a lawyer looking over their contracts before they sign them so that they fully understand them. Legal advice like "you can't sell someone's name" could cause some headaches down the road if a pro thinks they're signing something that means something entirely different, especially with the subject of this thread and people who may or may not be "part owners" of a new company or whatever.

No matter the contract that was signed. The player that represents a new entity would be able to sue (and probably win) if a former sponsor continued to promote discs pressed with their name on it. The liability to the former sponsor would be too great to risk. You can't gamble like that when the probable profit is relatively small in relation to the risk. A new top with a new or no name would be the best option. The new mold top (though somewhat expensive) is the safer investment in this economy.

How can you say "No matter the contract that was signed?" You don't know the stipulations of the contract signed by those players. If they licensed their name to be put on a disc, the company OWNS the rights to said name for said disc for whatever the duration of the contract is. You can't just walk away from a legally binding contract, and expect the company that wrote the contract to just forget it as well. Maybe they did sign contracts that stated that upon departure from the company the license to use their name ended. But they may have signed a 5 year,10 year, or indefenite licensure contracts because they want to maximize royalties. Sounds like you could get yourself into legal trouble someday by not realizing the severity and power of a contract written and enforced by a major corporation...

Thats a company opened up under his name. Not the same kind of issue

Put my name on a disc, I won't sue. I don't even want money. Problem solved. I'll take the R-Pro Sonic, cuz they BOMB!!!

Well with PP (Ti Stalker) and Emac (Ti Wasp, Ti Buzzz SS?) most likely gone, it looks like there is plenty of room for an MJ Ti Comet

I don't throw Discraft, but I'd buy one of those for sure!

They won't have to make a new top for the mold. It's a easy machine shop fix. Just fill in the name with brass brazing rod then grind and polish back smooth. Done this type of mold repair many times.

Sounds like a more likely scenario.
