Disc Golf Planet dot Tv

It was from last night's show. Just tried to say something today and was met with a you have been banned from the chat.

Some of my messages on there are getting deleted as well.

My issue isn't that I've given them $25 and I feel slighted; it's that I want them to succeed, and for whatever the case their current leadership is struggling with execution nearly every time they go "on the air".

Some of the live coverage this year has worked out okay, but more of it has been plagued with audio sync issues, poor communication between the producer and the hosts, etc.

I appreciate that they're taking a chance on something this weekend, but we can't even know if it was a chance worth taking when they fail to execute.

For example - we know that in today's Final 9, the second hole was a huge momentum swing, with Paige taking a 6 and Catrina carding a birdie. On the recap show, they showed a couple of random shots/putts from the group on hole 2, giving stilted descriptions of each shot as they happened with zero context on scoring. Then, about 3 minutes later, the co-host quietly and awkwardly notes that Paige took a 6 and Cat a 2. :(

Honestly, it sounds like DGP has a bunch of disc golfers with good intentions running things, rather than experienced journalists who have learned about the sport. It's a small difference that has a large bearing on the outcome.

I think you just won the thread

I completely understand lifetime members disappointment in the change. Dgptv's whole selling point is live coverage. "Your only portal for live disc golf, anywhere"

Any expectations they have with regard to dgptv were established by dgptv.

yeah this!

there isn't any disc golf...i think i should watch Kathy Lee and Hoda!!! probably better chance of live disc golf.....

I'm hard to please but clearly this was huge mistake....they need to hire three camera men and not even have a booth and all the production stuff...

JUST NEED TO HAVE DISC GOLF! PERIOD

free donut or paid bagel, it was not good.

I can appreciate trying something new...I do it occasionally on the course...it usually ends up in a double bogey.

Lolwut?

This has absolutely nothing to do with the PDGA, this is about DGP.tv. I've never been a PDGA member, because even though I play weekly mini's and 2-3 tournaments a year I just don't play enough PDGA tournaments to get my money's worth out of it... But I don't go around saying 'Derp, pdga so stupid! so glad I don't support them for a reason they have absolutely nothing to do with!'.

Ha, DGPlanet and pDGA are partners, or rather pDGA is a sponsor of DGPlanet. Where or where does the pDGA get their income? I'm guessing $50 memberships... Taken directly from the DGPlanet site:

The Professional Disc Golf Association has recently partnered with the EVP Tour and Watercross National Tour in an effort to leverage the strengths of each one of these three emerging sports into a powerful new network--The Beach Sports Network.
DiscGolfPlanet.tv has the privilege of producing four television shows for the PDGA during this 2013 disc golf season that will be distributed across 23 Regional Sports Networks and other satellite-based networks.
The four tournaments that DGPtv will be covering for the PDGA // Beach Sports Network in 2013 will be:

Still think it has nothing to do with the pDGA? Ever wonder where Crump and Clash went? Do you think maybe it has something to do with the pDGA's relationship with DGPlanet?

I can't believe the only thing worse than DGPTV coverage of a disc golf tournament was DGPTV's coverage of a disc golf tournament.

I'm no longer in anyway capable of helping, but I have a large knowledge base of disc golf and I have a degree in journalism. Every Disc Golf TV venture I've enquired about to help with in the past, I've been told my help wasn't needed.

Outside of Terry Roddy (who works for CBS sports coverage of the PGA Tour), there isn't a lot of experience there.

Eesh. That was a bit of a painful broadcast last night. Leaving the mics up during highlight packages and interviews. Random camera cuts. Hearing the producer talking to talent. Stock TriCaster graphics. Etc.

Was nice to see that they, at least, had footage from the round that day.

If DGP.TV is having so many $$$ problems, why don't they do what they did with Worlds last year and charge everyone to see the full live coverage? I thought that worked out great and I was more than happy to pay to see it. Then they could do a free nightly recap for those who don't want to pay or whatever...

That's a great idea! I paid for World's last summer and will probably this summer and I was happy with what I paid for. The other free streams I was happy with as well despite some tech issues because at the end of the day, I was seeing live disc golf.

They also should make a YouTube channel where they can post those free wrapup segments, along with other announcements. I don't think its that people are against the wrap up segments but it is not substitute for the live coverage people expect.

Then again, I would like to see SpinTV take over DGPTV. Those cats know what they are doing and Jussi has a great vision for content.

I think the live coverage idea is great, but it's apparent that it's not working at this point.

I really wish someone would just follow the tour, film all the A tier tournaments, take a week to edit them well and add commentary, and just do a pay-for service to stream each one. I'd pay $1.99-$4.99 to stream a polished tournament video.

I dont know if they would get enough subscribers to cover expenses for each event at only $5 per episode. But I would be willing to pay per event if that would get actual coverage of the events live or streamed at a later time. I am not mad about this weekends coverage its just not what I was looking to watch. I did pay the $25.00 membership fee becouse it was nice to see someone trying something new.

What I don't understand is why the "wrap up" had to be live.

If you're gonna do a recap show in a studio, that presumably will help you sell your product to advertisers and other channels: wouldn't you wanna edit it so that it looked somewhat professional?

They made a sheet ton of mistakes in these. Last night's might have been the worst of all in terms of commentary.

What was up when Crazy John said you never know what you are going to see on live tv and it cut to a commercial real quick? The whole broadcast was extremely weird and embarrassing to be honest.

If you were to cover every NT and the major A-tiers, that would be about 15 events a year.

I would wager you could get at least 1,000 dedicated subscribers, maybe more. But let's say 1,000

at $5 per person, per event, you could draw in $75,000 in revenue for the year. With travel, expenses, editing software and cameras, even a dedicated workstation, I would guess that you could gross over $30,000 if not much more.

Each event would take about a week to edit and upload. preferrably coverage of a feature group of each round and the finals, if applicable.

I could definitely see that model working, at least on paper. The first event might have to be bought in advance just for proof of concept and start up money.

Could maybe even cover Worlds and charge $10 due to more golf. I'm not sure if you would need to get the rights to do all of these events if you were going to charge money.
