You said that you jump putt when you NEED to.. yet its not distance that dictates that?!

There's a huge difference between throwing a disc 50' and making a putt at 50'. Even throwing a disc that's catchable at 50' is much easier than making a putt at 50'. I've also never seen anyone use a putting motion while playing catch unless they were a disc golfer doing some sort of drill.do people really have that hard of a time flicking a disc out 50' ?! Its something I thought we all have done our whole lives with discs even if you never played DG.

Why is the "putting" circle so small? seems like it should be at least another 20' out for pro level players then.
How do you know when you NEED to jump putt if its not distance? You say its not 50' but when is it then and I thought the NEED for jump putts was added distance without losing control... wouldn't it be easier to jump putt at 50' than try and push it up there max putting d?

About half the time it is distance that dictates if I jump the other half would be if there is a low cieling, or if it is up hill, or if I cant get a clean stance.
In a thread like this, there's no worries. But, I hear ya.
FWIW, it takes a certain level of athleticism to jump putt, and...well...I don't have it. I usually use a normal putting motion until 50', then use a floaty approach shot after that.

Yup, i'm starting to think AFC is a spin putter. Spin putters rarely are jump putters. They don't need to be. Their putting motion is more like a throw anyway. Push putters use their body weight shift for the momentum to project the disc. (not that there is anything wrong with any putting style, but they do have differences beyond just the actual putt)
I only "jump putt" when i'm quite far out, or a low ceiling as well. Heck there are times i even lay up with a "jump putt" from over 100' instead of a throw for the same reasons. It is so accurate from certain distances, especially with lower ceilings. Also way less variables involved than a throw (even stand and deliver throw). I even have jump putted with a driver, because i felt it was the most accurate way to hit the exact path i needed to hit.
