[Help] Rocs, Tell me about them

When I'm curious if I'll like something I just order one. Worst case scenario is I'll give it to a friend that will enjoy it.

I've got five rocs in the bag and they make playing any course easier. The thing about the roc is you can throw them easy or hard and they do the same thing. I have one new KC Pro Glow 10x Replica and it's seasoned brother, an Ontario DX Zone Driven Roc, an 8x Kc Pro Roc, and I just put an USDGC DX Roc3 in the bag to try out.

Now I've thrown Rocs my entire short DG career and I do have to say the rim on the USDGC Roc3 seems more shallow than any other Roc I've had in my hand. I can't explain it but with some Rocs the rim is deep but this is a shallow rim which I like a lot. We will see how this Roc3 handles the winter winds and if it stays in the bag.

On another note, I just acquired a beautiful SM Q-Sentinel which feels amazing in the hand. I was told this would be a great compliment to my Roc line-up. We will see how that flies once the leaves go away in a few weeks.

It's hard to mention anything about rocs especially learning about them with out atleast 5 people freaking out...don't worry about them I carry 2 roc3's and 3 rocs and 2 classic rocs they just beat in so nice they fill so many spots in my bag

I love rocs. I have a stack of over 20 pre flight number 12x and I will continue to hoard them until I find a disc that I deem superior (likely never).

I have a short stack of all new DX Rocs. I actually like modern DX runs. They start a little waxy but give it a month of use and it really feels good.

I am currently throwing a variety of Rocs in different plastics. I have a champion Shoestring Roc that is definitely the most stable Roc I have ever thrown, it only comes out for when it's windy or I need a hard fade. I then have a KC that is still fresh and is mostly straight with a small fade. Both of those are max weight. Then I had a lighter (172) DX Roc that I threw for hyzer flips and turnovers. Unfortunately that one is stuck up in a tree at the moment.

I have messed around for the past three years trying out different mids in my bag. Of course I tried out the Roc3 when it came out, and I fell completely in love with the Roc mold. I currently have 3 Roc3's in the bag now, and I don't see them moving out for a long time to come.

Well, hook a brother up with one.

I've got a couple on the way, but I'm going to have to play Quail & Ft Zumwalt exclusively for the next few months to break them in

HA! Zumwalt is actually closed until March bc of the Xmas lights festival.
I have some other rocs I can def. hook you up with, and some RDG wizards for that matter :D

what's the most overstable roc? I have heard its glo, is this true? Because for me, i went to the store and i think the glow rocs they had were 11.99 and some blend od dx/pro... I don't know... but is this right?

Glow Champ is the beefiest. For the avg. customer, a Star Rancho roc is going to be your beefiest by far.

Where do you find champ glo? Everyone I see seems to have dx glow

Also I'm maybe looking for soemthing the roc isn't made for. I'm looking to go into a head wind in Michigan at 15mph. I turn my champ roc3 over, fresh kc roc, and wondering if glow dx is more stable? Or is star rocs what everyone uses?

I know Zumwalt is closed, I was just going to go there & throw at the Christmas decorations...;)

Do you have any of the RDG Wizs in SS or SSS?

Currently we have a few really nice SS Blues. They're so tasty. We don't have any SSS but we do have one RFF. Once we tally a bit more cash we are going to be working in a second run. I talked with the guys at the factory so this run will be a bit more varied.

@zumwalt park: lol. That'll learn them to close the course. :hfive:

Glow DX is not the beefy ones. People often refer to the 4x Kenny Glows as the beefiest of the rocs. They cost upwards of $100 lol. A star rancho will have all the beef you need from a roc. Get one at max weight and enjoy the lack of glide and wind fighting ability.

So what's the dx glow plastic like? Is it still more stable then regular? Does it wear slower or faster then regular dx?

This creature is an enormous bird, easily the size of a building. Almost too big to be believed, rocs are huge birds of prey that dwell in warm mountainous regions and are known for carrying off large animals (cattle, horses, even elephants). A roc's plumage is either dark brown or golden from head to tail. In a few rare instances, red, black, or white rocs are sighted, but they are often considered bad omens. These enormous creatures are 30 feet long from the beak to the base of the tail, with wing- spans as wide as 80 feet. A roc weighs about 8,000 pounds.

Rocs lair in vast nests made from trees, branches, lumber, and the like. They prefer to dwell high in the moun- tains, far from other rocs, to avoid strain- ing their food supply; they hunt within
a radius of about 10 miles around their nests.

COMBAT
A roc attacks from the air, swooping earthward to snatch prey in its power- ful talons and carry it off for itself and its young to devour. A solitary roc is typically hunting and will attack any Medium or larger creature that appears edible. A mated pair of rocs attack in concert, fighting to the death to defend their nests or hatchlings.
Skills: Rocs have a +4 racial bonus on Spot checks.
