[Innova] Thunderbird

The hoarders and flippers are really irritating me on these. So they've sold close to 1,000 of these and they have yet to take more then an hour or so to sell out on the store. Gotta give innova credit, they know how to make easy money.

The flippers? Have you seen anyone selling any yet?

They released 100 first time, 400 second time and 600 3rd restock. 1100 total.

The CFR discs rarely last long if they are cool
Hell, the Asian open discs didn't last an hour and they sold out over 1500 IIRC.

$20 for a pretty nice looking star disc with a badass stamp?

I'll likely flip two of them to make my money back. People buy them.

I ordered 2 of each convincing myself as usual if I sell 2 of them for a bit more, that would offset the cost but as usual I will likely not sell any of them. I guess if I really need the money in the future, they will always be worth $20+ so I'm never really losing money on them.

I think it is all going to come down to two factors because I think overall the disc is going to be a winner.

1) If there is a tweak in the mold that changes its flight pattern, especially if future runs happen to be less high speed stable, the value should go up drastically. People want this disc because it is stable; not overstable, but stable even at power. You always hear about Pre-Flight Numbers this or 11x that. However, if regular production Stars come out the same stability, the rush to get the first run stuff is not going to be as great. You will find a few that will want the old stamp just because it is special, but if they are used by any means the value will drop significantly.

2) This stems from the bottom of the last argument. If the mold stays consistent, then there will remain somewhat of a market if the regular production run uses a generic stamp. However, if they start mixing things up, as you have seen on numerous occasions recently at the Pro Shop, and start releasing numerous different stamps with different and exciting artwork, the only market you are going to find is going to come from those who are trying to collect all the different stamps.

The best time to sell is likely going to be right away, assuming Innova is done for a while with the limited release of this disc, or waiting five or six years when the mold is finally tweaked, the actual mold pieces at the factory are seasoning in and or need to be replaced (ala the Beast), or something changes in the Star plastic formula.

Personally I dont think anything after this particular mold will ever hold an value. And this one may not. They are just making to many trying to make them collectable. I mean look at the Roc3.. There are tons of different stamps (1x Mcbeth, Usdgc?, Proto, BB) really come on... I would say your right about people just wanting the different stamps. But they all fly the same. Unlike older mold Teebirds, Leopard, Beast, Roc, ETC ETC ETC

We are already seeing a difference in roc3s though, and they don't fly the same. There are hundreds of different stamps on old destroyers and they're all still pricey. It may seem like innova is pumping out a bunch now, but when players that start in two years and want all the cool old stuff, prices will gradually climb.

Yup, I have an F2 Roc3 and it is different than the 2X. Not much but it flies different enough to notice a difference.

These are the true first run Star Thunderbirds. They should hold their value for a long while.

Haven't noticed about the roc3. I've had several early run champs, a F2 g star, production g star, a star and last week bought a 2x champ roc3. They all fly exactly the same

Sorry, my F2 is a 1X Xout. The 1X is generally a little flatter and they fly a tad more OS than my 2X. I havent thrown the 3X but it looks identical to the 2X.

With the release of Star Thunderbirds and the stock stamp McBeth 3x Champion Thunderbird it would be awesome to see a 2015 Tour Series McPro Thunderbird. Unfortunately I don't think Innova likes releasing higher speed discs in Pro plastic. I know there are Pro Destroyers, Wraiths, Bosses, etc out there, but they don't have the same stiffness and feel of the KC/McPro plastic. Anyone else be interested in something like that. I think a Champ/Star/McPro lineup would be a nice lineup.

I picked up a G* Thunderbird when they came out and I love it. I can't wait to get the McBeth Champ version.

i have 4 of the 3x mcbeth jolly launcher thunderbirds of various wts in the bag already. they are the exact same jolly laucher mold plastic and feel as the protos...only you can get your weight now. they go ssoooooo far. buy one. much more stable than gstar (of course) i need a star one though. someone pm me and sell me one that isnt green or brown... :) please...
