In the newest rules that I can find on the pdga site I find no specifications for mini disc sizes. Is this true?

Does this allow non circular minis like the the weird Vibram ones?

If not where is the technical standard at?

and for those who don't click links:

Mini Marker discs must have a circular shape, with a diameter ranging from 7 cm to 15 cm and a height
not exceeding 3 cm. Mini marker discs can be made from a variety of materials (e.g. plastic, metal, wood).

I'd rather click a link for a picture of the weird Vibram non circular minis.

See attached image.

It would be my interpretation of the rule that has been cited that both of these minis would be legal for play in a PDGA sanctioned event. The mini on the left is clearly in regs. The one on the right caused me to give both the rule and the mini a second look but my interpretation is that is in fact legal. The rule does not state that it needs to be a 'circle' but 'rather circular in shape'. In my opinion that second mini is 'circular in shape' even though it isn't a perfect circle. What are your thoughts?

I actually had a question about mini's last night...at a mini. I saw a guy using a wooden one that was freaking sweet, beautiful lacquered disc, could tell someone definitely put in a lot of time crafting it. I had no idea they could be made out of wood/metal etc. I've always been kind of a abnormal fellow, so having the ability to further that by using a non plastic, non perfectly round mini sounds pretty awesome to me.

My favorite one is seeing people using hockey pucks as minis. Totally legal and great for getting discs out of trees. Just a PITA to carry which is why I don't go that route.

Haha never thought about a hockey puck, I carry a baseball so dropping that and adding a hockey puck for double duty, may be helpful.

Just make sure to slap some paint on the puck first if you're planning to use it for disc retrieval. Little buggers blend into the woods pretty easily, but they work really well. Good thing they're $1 at PIAS!

Drill a small hole through the middle of the baseball and loop some paracord through it, leaving about a 50' tail. Now you can throw your baseball over the branch and pull the branch down with the loop of cord, and you don't have to be quite as accurate with your throw.

I prefer leather for my mini.

If you ever need a mini, you can use a peanut butter jar lid.
Legal, and cheap.
