400-500 ft FH drives? Really?

Words do not really do my grip justice, so here is a picture of it, seriously, try it.

Simon, Paul, Will, etc, etc, can all throw 500ft drives but rarely do in $$$ events unless it's a fairly wide open shot. Paul & Simon will throw a big anny flex shot on an open hole and it's crazy how far the disc goes. However, most will trade that for a nice controlled 350 straight shot. In person I've witnessed Paul, Simon, Will all throw 350ft shots with a mid range and it's amazing how low they fly and just glide forever.

Simon mainly plays for show. So no, i dont think that he often picks the control shot over a huge drive.

Paul is Paul because his 500 foot drives are just as controled as our 250 foot drives.

Played with an 950 rated player last Friday during a tournament and watched him flick every single shot other than his putting. He parked an 810 foot hole with his second shot. There are guys out there who can do it. Not everything is on YouTube.

Non of the 3 guys you mentioned can throw that far sidearm.

Avery is an underrated sidearm thriwer. He can't throw 500, but controlled to 400+ no prob

I'm pretty sure both Paul and Simon can throw 400 sidearm, maybe not 450 though. I remember a hole that Simon parked on a video tourney that was marked at 395 and he parked it. Will S. might even be getting close to 400 with his as well, not sure. 450 seems far less common however.

Love when others throw on a football field. Did the 455 almost get to the scoreboard then?

I enjoyed our round on Friday! Thankful my driving was on that day.

My longest sidearm on record in a collegiate distance competition was 444ft in Oct. 2012. I threw a Champion Ape on a big flex line and had some tailwind assistance.

That said, I am pretty certain I have eclipsed 450ft on a handful of throws. I have unofficially measured some of my bigger bombs using google earth. I think my longest sidearm on level ground was 467ft.

I use the two finger stack grip, which I believe is the same as the pistol grip?

Went to the left of the uprights over the fence and another 80ft.

I only have played with two people who can throw 400+ forehand consistantly. One of them is Scott Stokely. The other is not a touring pro. I could throw 400 (not past) FH with no control early in my game before i learned BH.

Here's the video I took of you throwing your Sword.

This is a 390ft uphill hole that plays closer to about 430ft (basket is on top of the hill behind the trees on the left). Sorry all the action is in the first few seconds followed by a lot of nothing.

There are many extenuating factors in regards to forehand distance. Grip, arm mechanics, and just plain physical gifts (armspan) are the most prevalent in my humble opinion. I only teach the mechanics of my forehand to close friends, but I will always correct somebody if I see them using an improper grip, so i have no qualms against divulging that information. My grip involves pinching the side of your index finger against the pad of your thumb, with your middle finger fully extended, the disc will be spinning off of your middle finger. Try it sometime, you will wonder why you did anything else. The "pistol" is the prevalent forehand grip I see others using, but I personally think it is a sloppy garbage grip with a high propensity for release errors.

U should pm me the goods. My improvements will never effect u in a negative way but ferries will surely bless u as a result.

6'3" 215 and the Apes are both 175

6' tall 195lbs with a 6' 1" wingspan.

I think the Champ Ape was max weight, I stopped throwing Apes a few months after that distance competition. My main distance drivers for the last 3 years have been a 166g Elite Z Nuke OS and a 170g VIP Sword.

There's a smaller guy maybe 5'8" and 140lbs soaking wet here in CT that can get over 400ft easy with the sidearm. I've personally seen him drive an open (initial drive off the tee) par 4 hole using a beat in echo star xcalibur about 420-440ft. He uses champ firebirds to get 350-400ft of controlled power  in situations like long uphill shots and tunnel shots.

He's kind of like barsby or big germ where the sidearm looks effortless and often uses discs like champ eagles and branshees for sidearm hyzerflip touch shots.

It's sometimes more fun to watch him pummel champ gators past 300ft holes then huge drives though.

You were the first person I thought of when this thread started. Just wait till they post the Viridisk footage of the Crazy Beaver! You crushed it on a few holes.
