i threw today with a friend who threw "rocs" but didnt have a regular roc in the bag. they were all variations of the roc.

now compare it to its counterpart the "wasp". there are no variations. sure the buzzz is beadless but if you stamp different un-relateable names on the wasp and buzz you would have never guessed they were the same (roc vs shark).

if innova roc was so "good" to begin with why did they make all these variations of the roc?

Same reason there's so many Aviar variations. Innova would rather have variants on a theme, while other companies do the same thing but create whole new names...

Not sure about the ROC X or ROC X 3 but the ROC 3 was made as finding a regular ROC was near impossible as true flat top option. Even more so goes to it's counterpart the Shark with the Shark 3. Now Why the X ROC's to satisfy the top Innova Pro's and to make money both at the same time.

Also it seems Innova wants to make a disc for every type of shot out there now, making almost too many a beginner wanting to buy just 3 separate beginner discs not in the beginner pack is difficult unless you research them on Innova's online site. Even if you know you should buy a more neutral putter that you feel comfortable with and a standard to longer neutral midrange, not a shorter approach mid then you could be confused with Innova, if only picking Innova not say the big 2 other Innova owned/co owned brands.

Yes yet Discraft Stayed with the Bee and Bee like insects with the whole Wasp/Buzz/Drone thing and they make OS and SS of discs too, like with the Challenger/OS Challenger.

Yet the Whale is a variant on the Aviar, Dave said so in a Youtube post. So they did with variants on the Aviar till an Aviar variant came out that was different enough with the Plus rim that it was not able to be called a Aviar anymore.

They wanted 30 different ways to be better than a Wasp. Who would throw one of those things?

i wish i had a soundtrack app on my phone

"rock 3 will park it"

umm the flippy one? the flat one? the us one? the OS one? ohh the one what flies as design...na jk doesnt exist

Innova has always confused me. I personally take a wasp over a rock any day and even though the Buzzz is just a re-tooled wasp it's not the "same" disc. I'm sure each roc has it's own characteristics, but personally I appreciate the straight forward approach. Also with my buzzzes and mybwaspni can achieve all the shots I need just like an Innova fan with their roc, beat roc, roc 3 mid line up. Innova makes things for money but Discraft could have called the Buzzz SS something different but the Buzzz sells so it is about $ that's what a business is and there's always going to be that side of it.

Multi roc'n folk have a Commitment I do not have. Too much flight similarity in the family to bag a bunch. I have tried a bit and the field work never proves it out for me.

I am very happy with my mids. I use one mild to moderate beat DX Roc as my neutral mid. Paired with a fast mildly beef (Hornet) and a wysiwyg beadless glider (Meteor)

Rocs are awesome, Wasps are awesome... I dont see a point in this discussion... It's obvious that all disc companies essentially do what Innova does with their Rocs. It's all just marketing for the mighty dollar! These are just frisbees dudes.. let's just throw 'em.

My 2 cents on the matter, anyway..

One thing about Innova is that they experiment, try new things, and put things out there for us to use. Maybe the Roc3 was made because Paul McBeth likes flat discs (he also uses the Mako3, Teebird3, etc.), but it's a good disc and many others like it. They also try different plastics, sometimes for better, sometimes not. Yes, they do it to sell discs, and that's the point of any business, but their discs make our DG play better or inspire others to make good discs for us to use.

They don't sell enough Wasps to wear out the mold and necessitate new molds that aren't quite the same so they throw a 3 or X on it and market it like it was intended. :|
