Losing a disc...

I remember the day that my buddy Sean, aka Cornellrams, lost his champ beast. It was mid-summer and sunny. The hole was about 300' and wide open. No trees and nothing but dirt and small weeds. We watched the disc land, but when we walked out, it disappeared. We searched for around 20-30 minutes, but couldn't find the disc... lost in an open field!

So I ask, has anybody else lost a disc in ridiculous why like this?

My very first disc was a pink DX Beast. I threw it on hole 5 at my local course which has a line of about 4 medium sized pine trees on the right not too close together and some pretty short, dry grass. Well needless to say my disc went straight into one of the last trees and 3 of us looked for a good 15 minutes and couldn't find it, I was pretty bummed. I know of at least 2 other people who have lost discs in the same area. It's so seemingly innocent.

I once found a disc in a soccer field by a disc golf course. You park next to the field and use it to warm up before your round.

i lost a valk in a water hole and searched forever, found 32 discs but not my valk

Yep, same deal too. Open field fairly short grass. Bright yellow disc. I even walked a grid pattern but no luck.

Never lost one but I have looked for an hour a few times to find discs in an open field. It doesn't take a lot of weeds/grass to conceal a disc especially if it isn't laying flat.

This has happened to me a number of times, a couple of those i was lucky enough to find them on another round a few days later.

My buddy threw one into the pine halfway up the fairway on #7 at Seneca. This tree is not very thick like the other cedars there and is easy to see through, still no disc. We figured maybe it dropped and rolled away while we were picking up our bags so we looked down the hill, no joy. Looked 30-40 minutes for that d@mn thing, it must have up and vanished like a fart in the wind.;)

The worst was losing my favorite putter on a simple 150' shot. It was downhill with sparse trees and 4 of us watched it fly and land fairly near the pin. You can see the entire hole from the teepad and noone was anywhere near us. After looking for 30 minutes we gave up. I still can't believe I lost it.

I watched a buddy throw a yellow DX Valkyrie into the lone pine tree on a fairway. We looked for about 15 minutes but nothing. It was over 25 feet up and we had no line of sight on it from any angle. It possibly went through the tree and we just didn't see that happen from our angle on the teepad.

I threw a disc down a short (150') fairway and saw it land on flat ground.

Took me 25 minutes to find that sucker - it had plowed under a handful of leaves.

(That happened to me twice, two different coursesm, same result each time.)

A buddy of mine threw a short forehand flip and it bounced off a tree into the open. There was not even an inch of snow on the ground which of course is enough to conceal a disc. We both saw it land, we could easily tell where we searched because of the snow. We shuffled our feet over the entire area figuring one of us would eventually kick it and nothing!

Unless it was...no, never mind. You came out ahead on that one.

Valks do seem to have a knack for disappearing though. Just lost a purple DX a few weekends ago by landing it vertically in the snow. If it even left a mark, it was way too thin to see.

Ok so one of my first discs was a champ viking I found. So me and my buddy would go out and throw at this football field for practice. Well it's getting somewhat dark so we decide to throw one last round of discs. I let him toss the viking and he shanks it left off the field. We searched on foot for about 15 minutes. Then got in his SUV and drove around the field for about another 15 minutes and never found it. The worst part was it was my first and only ace disc. I've also lost a Pro Leopard at the same field.

That sounds totally like me, Ill toss one into the water and end up being in there for like an hour, finding like 20 of them. I figure if im already wet then im gonna stay in there for a while, especially if im playing solo.

my valk was a beat up dx so i didnt care too much, it was replaced well

Is that the one where you signed the basket, and BrotherDave called you out on it? I sense a bit of karma. Just picking at you, sorry you lost your one and only ace disc.

Beat me to it. Sounds like Adam needs a new field. :D
