Why do people put stats (# aces/"metal", etc.) in their signature?

Maybe he wants you to know about him? I've pretty much gone blind to signatures, sort of like I've gone blind to banner ads. I didn't used to have one until a month or so ago, but now I have one for anyone who likes them. :|

How many books have your read?

Which James brother do you prefer? I like William because I find his prose to be easier to digest than his brother's but it could be because I had to read so much Henry James in college.

The reason I was thinking about this topic is I noticed a guy, and I wont say who, that posted line by line the courses he's played.
Why do I need to know this ?
Who the hell cares ?
If I want to know how many courses you have played it takes about 6 seconds to look it up.
By posting all these stupid, self serving statistics, you make threads that should be 3 pages long 6 pages with all your lonely , pathetic boasting.

Some of you need to get a life, or another hobby where somebody actually cares about your pathetic little statistics.

The only statistic I respect, or might actually take the time to read, is the number of tournaments you have won.
