There is no way that you can have 100% humidity. I don't understand why people think that humidity can be 100% in the summer when the temperature is 100 degrees. An extreme amount of humidity is around 50% when the temperature reaches 100. The only times you will see the humidity reach 100% is during a rainy fall or spring day, or just about any day during the winter, and maybe a cool summer night when it rains.

Maybe I just expect people to know this. I studied weather for a while in grade school.
haha everyone is back to saying 100% humidity, I love 100 percent humidity because that means IT IS RAINING!

Notice how nobody from the west really complains about heat and humidity. I'm seriously thinking about moving to Denver....

I carry an umbrella for shade, but on Tuesday, I simply could not get my hands dry. Birdie bag, tee pad dust, and Johnsons Baby Powder had almost no effect on my grip. I swear it was like moisture was condensing on my discs. The brim of my ball cap was soaked thru and drops of sweat were beading up and dropping off the edge of the brim, like rain off a shed roof.

If you only play with fat people you do not have to carry an umbrella.

I have 3 long rounds planned today. 100 degrees and 100% humidity! A little water should do the trick though.

/\ 1/2 to 1 gallon per round, you should be O.K. If I remember correctly if you are sweating AND have the chills, your having a heat stroke. Or atleast the beginning of one. But, I'm no doctor.

a gallon per round? you just told him to drink 24 pounds of water in a day (3 rounds)
lets not forget that you would also be flushing out all of you electrolytes, which is just as dangerous and painful as dehydration.

the heat index has been 100+ the last week during the times of day that i play, so i hadn't played in an entire week and finally got out yesterday. it kinda sucked but i was able to keep my grip on my shots which was all that really mattered

Whiz and I played Renny gold yesterday. I shot a 73 and he shot a 69. I say we tamed the heat ok! (1000 and 977 rated for reference)

ok, now that I trolled you. 1/2 gallon of water per round is fine :)
there is no set amount because it depends on your size and how much you are sweating.

Scenerio:
If you drink a 12 oz. bottle of water (soda can size 1.5 cups) before you leave for the course and another before your round, then drink a cup after every 3 holes, followed by a 12 oz. bottle between rounds, repeat a cup after every 3 holes for the second and third rounds, as well as a 12 oz. after the second round and third round.
That would equal a 1/2 gallon per round, so you were not totally wrong :p

I know some of you don't want to wear a hat, but a hat is a great way to keep that sun off of your head. I don't play in the summer with out a large hat on. Keeps my head cool, and helps keep the sun off my face. I get these hats at Love's Travel Stop for $5.99

I'm a pretty big guy. 6'3" & 250lbs. So that's what I drink, a minimum of a 1/2 gallon a round. When it's over 90 degrees.

I've been playing in a 105 heat index with the same amount of water as usual

Wish I had some stock in sports drink companies right now. I'll bet they're making a killing.

at 250 pounds your body requires about 15 pounds of water a day (keep in mind their is water in foods, so you do not actually drink 15 pounds of water)
At 250 pounds I would assume you sweat quite a bit more than a 150 pound companion, so you would need to replace more fluids. You possibly could reach a need for 20 pounds of fluid in a day.

Again, you were not all wrong I was just trollin' :) I was expecting to see Hyperhydration and water intoxication arguments, but to get water intoxication you have to drink about 2 gallons in 10 minutes.

I protect my bald head with a North Face "runners" type baseball style cap. Mesh sides and a 50 upf? Rating for sun block. It's a awesome cap,wet it down in cold water after a round and it's all good.
