Noobie Question Thread (Dumb Questions answered here)

Good question, I think it depends on the person, I never use a fan grip for mids, but if I am doing a short tee shot I will use a fan grip on a putter, but other then that its a regular power grip.

About the good rip, I don't think you should really ever be trying to rip a putter, it may be your actual grip on the disc or grip strength or something else in my opinion.

I use a 3 finger power grip off the tee with all discs. It's all a matter of personal preference.

And I use a 4 finger for every single disc. I do make sure that putters have shallow rims though or else I have had problems with grip lock. I stick with the zone (1.2 cm), pure (1.4 cm), and summit (1.2 cm).

I power grip everything, just use a looser grip with putters

Thank you everyone for the input. Much appreciated :) I have been experimenting with my grip and have found that a loose modified birdie/split grip seems to work for me. But I am really not 100% on this style. It seems to give me a little more freedom because I have short and chubby fingers:\

What's everyones experience with flight charts? Marshall Street. Joe's Flight Chart and inBounds?

As a ballpark comparison between discs not bad. Differences in they way various plastics behave in any given mold are not reflected though, since it is an average. There is no substitute for me throwing the disc in question and evaluating it for myself.

I've been out of the game for 3.5 years is there any must get disc? Also prodigy I had never heard of are they good and why are all their disc called the same? Like P3 P7 etc...

Check out a little company called MVP.

The Tangent and Volt are two discs that I would recommend to any player looking to try some new plastic.

I definitely recommend checking out some MVP/Axiom(loving the resistor and crave right now)
Prodigy plastic seems decent, don't have any extended experience with their molds. They are named by type(Distance/Fairway/Midrange/PuttApproach) and stability with 1 being the most overstable and 7(? Not in all types) being the most understable as of now.

I'll second MVP. Personally, I didn't like the feel of the Tangent--I prefer more shallow than the Tangent--but a lot of people like it. I would also recommend the Amp and Shock, along with the Volt. Generally, I can throw lighter discs further, so I started picking up StarLite and Blizzard Champion drivers from Innova (you might check some of those out, too). However, despite being 25-35 g heavier I can throw MVP's fairways further than anything than a blizzard Katana, and more relianly and accurately. Great discs!

I've got two Volts, an N and a P and I can't throw them properly. I don't have any problem with other drivers in the same speed. (Teebird & XL). I finally am able to throw my Axis with enough snap to go where I point it, so I'm still hoping to get the Volts tamed. But I would not recommend a Volt to rwe366 unless he had a developed game when he left 3.5 years ago.

:thmbup:specially with their new 17mm class of drivers a switch or crave is a better suggestion really.

for one thing the volt is a little faster than a teebird, and the protons are more overstable than the neutron volts if those aren't working for ya try the slower MVP fairway class resistor/servo/crave/switch

Yup, Teebrds are speed 7 and Volts are speed 9 - If you aren't throwing 350ish, the Volt is probably too fast for you.

Ehh, I don't know. I personally feel snap has a good bit to do with it too. My max on open flat is around 320' (average being around 290'), but I can get incredibly straight and long flights from the Volt. Now that it's worn in a bit, it does have a slight high speed turn. Now, I wouldn't recommend the Inertia unless you have a bit more power. I got one (just because I'm a MVP fanboy :D), but still am not sure if I'm really getting any more distance out of it.

Then again, the Amp is also pretty good choice for those who can't get quite a straight flight out of the Volt.

Actually I think the Inertia is very easy to throw with a low power requirement. I only throw a little over 300 and the Inertia is now my favorite driver.

I love my ching rocs and have quite a few dx flat top rocs. Are all flat top dx rocs a little "plus mold-ish"? Mine seem to be. What about kc pro flat top rocs?

Anyone know how to change which PDGA division you are in? I have an account but don't know how to connect it to my membership.
Any help is great
