Getting married...and she says I have too much plastic! Advice?

Aren't you a little too young to be getting married? Seriously, its great to find that special person whom you want to share the rest of your life with. I have been married over 31 years. While my wife plays some dg, especially on vacation where we find 2-3 courses on the route (Cincinnati &...

    Disc golf for seniors

Yes, playing disc golf as a senior is great fun and exercise. As a person who has graduated from work (read retired), I am able to play most days here in Austin Texas. To encourage new people in the sport that I meet on the course, I offer cards with 7 web sites for great training and course...

    Austin mini's?

Noobaque, I don't know about today (Mondays), but there is a mini (actually a blind-draw doubles) on Sundays at Wells Branch (10:00 a.m.). This is just north of Austin. The other course which used to have mini's is Bart (off of 51st across from the old airport), but I don't know what day or...

Besides disc golf in Louisville, what to do

Just returned from the trip northeast. Thank you for your suggestions. We did go to the Louisville Slugger Museum. However, since we had a pet, my wife couldn't do the tour (they don't allow pets). As neither of us drink (my wife's dad was an alcoholic), we declined the liquor suggestions...

Besides disc golf in Louisville, what to do

Thanks for the suggestions received to date. Perhaps, additional items will be received prior to our departure on the 11th. I especially like the Louisville Slugger and downtown entertainment items. Hopefully, the weather in that part of the country will be considerably cooler than we have...

Besides disc golf in Louisville, what to do

I've got a trip planned around my 45th high school reunion in West Virginia. This includes three new states for courses, which I've decided based on comments in this forum. There's a 9 hole course near Parkersburg WVa (where I'll stay with my brother during reunion activities), Mt. Airy Forest...

    New Course in Nashville

I located the course using Googlemaps. It's north of downtown, up where Cedar Hills is located. From that great course, its west on rt. 45, then south on hwy 431. Not sure of distances. Next time I'm in Nashville, I'll have to check out this new course (assuming that it has been completed...

    How many within 100 miles?

With some of these posts, I feel cheated. There are only 78 courses within 100 miles of Austin Tx (I've played 24 so far). However, there are over 30 within 30 miles - all reachable within 30 minutes.

    Dependable anhyzer driver?

I agree with several previous posts praising the sidewinder for this shot. There are several holes about 220 - 260 feet that I park this disc fairly consistantly; even in a headwind. For a shorter distance, I would go with a buzz. The main thing is to know your discs.

Stony Creek Park - Pflugerville Texas

Now that the signs are in and the pars have been decided, I want to revisit the use of pars greater than 3. According to the signs, holes #7 (594 feet), #9 (504 feet) and #18 (357 feet) are par 4; while hole #11 (498 feet) is a par 5. There could be some arguing as to why #11 is par 5, while 7...

    28 Years playing DG.

Just wait until you young guys are old enough (or rich enough) to retire and be able to play every day. Well; in Texas you can play every day throughout the year. I retired at age 56 (almost 7 years ago) and was introduced to disc golf at age 58. Now if my body will only do what my brain...

How many people have you told about DGCR?

Over the past couple of years, since I discovered some great sites for disc golf instruction etc., I have printed up cards on hard-paper stock with 5 sites (DGCR being at the top) which I give to people that I meet while on the courses I play here in Austin. I can generally tell that they are...

Stony Creek Park - Pflugerville Texas

I finally got back to this course. Still no resolution in signs and tee-pads. One item I noticed greatly affected the difficulty of the hole. For the first shot across the pond (#12), it used to be that you had to fire to the left of the slanted tree - either anny backhand or sidearm - to...

Where are the baskets - Cat Hollow Round Rock Texas

Thanks devin. I had somewhat looked for the new #18 out in the general direction of the new teebox. I guess I stopped too soon. As for the change in #17, I really like the additional length and need to really shape the drive for any chance at a duce. I'll have to head back out there soon to...

Where are the baskets - Cat Hollow Round Rock Texas

Had the course to myself this morning at Cat Hollow. Great to play, now that cement teepads were installed after Thanksgiving. However, finishing was difficult as there was no bucket where number 17 has always been. Also, I still couldn't find the new placement for number 18, since the...
