Ask Chris Hysell the angry old Discraft Pro

Can we get an "in the bag" video? One where you shoot holes in some old 4 chain magnets at the end?

I won't shoot holes in my old discs. These things have an incredible value to people. But I have a good idea now. For years I have carried around a "lost and found" box. Many people I have contacted have told me to keep the discs until I ran into them. I still have them. Some make great ice scrapers on those cold frosty mornings. Some will make nice targets at the range.

Chris is an old man. This newfangled technology with its YouTubes and its loud music will just confuse him. Please don't ask for a video again. I would much rather receive an "In The Bag" letter in the mail.

not true. I invented the internet

in the bag

5 nukes ranging from 150 ESP to 174 Ti with some z's in between.

two soft magnet

Ti stalker

esp surge, Z surge

esp crank, z crank(blu-glo)

esp zone, cryztal zone

esp meteor, z meteor

Nice to see a Ti Stalker in the mix there...

Are all the Nukes the standard mold? Do you mix in the SS or OS at all?

max weight - Ti, FLX and Z

164g Z and a 153g ESP

the lighter weights are for more distance and the mind tricks I play on myself. If I want to be sure I get around an obstacle is to throw lighter weights. I tend to have a faster arm speed and miss my release point. It works for me.

>>What's the mold/plastic combo Discraft discontinued that you would like to see produced again and why?<<

Man, do I love the first few years of the Stratus. After a season of play and wear, you could sneeze on them and they'd turn to the right (RHBH) very easily and nicely. I have an X-Stratus now that's adequate.

What I do wish for is both of the big companies to revert to their base plastics exactly like they were in the '90s, when you could pick up a brand new Aviar Putter and feel the tackiness right away. Now if you pick up a DX/D-plastic Disc, they're slippery and not at all the same.

I have a Banshee from 1999 just off to my right that I retired after just one day of play (...because I deuced #27 at my one visit to DeLaveaga with it). When you pick it up, it's immediately evident that the base plastic then and now are two different animals.

A 150-class premium plastic Nuke! I didn't know they existed. Where in the world (or at least U.S.) can one find them?

they are available to the public. I picked them off of the shelf at the warehouse but they are on the stock disc list of discs available to all retailers.

I used to love the MRV! I guess the Buzzz stole all of its buzz, eh? The MRV was a straight thrower for me, and the equally awesome MRX was its OS cousin. Back in the day, I preferred them to the Roc because they felt better in my hand. (Now I like both Buzzzes and Rocs...)

I still have two MRVs. One that's baby blue (and whatever you called their premium plastic back then) and another in their base plastic from back then (like Cyclone plastic) that was in the 2000 Pro/Am Worlds player's package with the "Competion" misspelling on the underside (instead of "Competition").

With the amount of tournaments you play, do you ever get bored/annoyed and wonder why you're playing a tournament where you get 2 rounds in after 10 hours on the course instead of playing 2 rounds in 3 hours down the street at the empty course?

How much weight do you put on the course/td/tier/location of the tournaments you play?

Iron Hill -- (disclaimer: I play it a couple times a month and love the challenge of it) -- your thoughts?

In the last 5 or more years I would estimate that 90% of my disc golf has been tournament play. I never just drive to a local course to play. I never call or text friends and ask them to meet me for a round. If someone were to ask me to come play I usually make the effort but leisure golf isn't a priority.

Last year I would have played 50 or 60 events if I could find more masters events to play. I actually screwed myself by playing in the grandmasters division. For some reason td's have been cutting out the age protected divisions. Many will claim that since I am still competitive with the younger open players I should be playing there to challenge myself. In my sponsorship world this is really not possible. One of the stipulations of being on the Discraft sponsored Masters team is that half of my events need to be in the masters division. This became more of a problem as the year went on last year and I couldn't find events in Va that were offering MPM. I found myself in NC and Delaware playing in the MPM division just to get back to even so I could play again the next weekend.

Tournament tiers and courses really mean nothing to me. Neither do one day events. I'd rather play in two different events each weekend. That's more opportunities to win. I go to tournaments to win and the venue really doesn't matter either. I have won on short courses as well as long courses. Winning has actually become an addiction. I want to get to my 100th PDGA win mark and i'm trying really hard. It will happen in 2014.

Don't get me started on my love for Delaware disc golf. It feels like my home. My first PDGA Open win was at Lums Pond and before that I won the Breeze and Treeze in advanced. Iron Hill is a treat and I really enjoy playing there. It offers the challenge of course management. Last year I also discovered Canby and Trap Pond. Both fit my game well. Perhaps I will make an appearance in a few weeks ay White Clay.

Did you enjoy playing the country course a few weeks ago? I really enjoy playing competitive rounds on old private courses. What other NC tournies do you plan on hitting this year?
