Best 9 Hole Course in the US

Shu pond has got the number two spot right now. Now, I am absolutely blown away by the response my course has gotten, most of which I feel like the fun factor/private course vibe kicks my course up that extra notch. If I am being honest though my course really isn't much better than a 3.5 but, I guess that'd probably cause I see more room for improvement.

but technically currently holds best in us spot

Played it. It's decent mix of woods and open. I'd give it a 2.5 Linbrook is an easy 3.5.

There's two Central Parks in the Chi area keep in mind. This is the better one. The one in Grayslake is the one that's like a 2/5.

Adler Park is definitely a #2 in terms of best 9 hole in Chicago area and not to mention Adler has got some great history behind it considering I think it's Chicago's longest running course that was established in the 80's. I suggest anyone in the area make the drive north of the city to play it.

Also, there's a new course up in northern Wisconsin like 35 minutes from Sandy Point. It's a 9 hole right behind a school and it's one of the best ones I've played in the state so far. The only downside is the holes are pretty short but other than that it was really nice. https://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=12758

I kid, well deserved. :)

Your earlier post said the one in Oak Brook.
That's the one I played.

I can see some folks giving it a 3.0, but I think it's about a 2.5. I'd say it's about as good as couple of local niners: Wagner and Starr Jaycee in Royal Oak, (each has 9 baskets with dual tees, but are listed as 18's here :\ ). All 3 are pretty good, but I don't think any of them belong in the convo for best niner in the country.

Linbrook definitely more than a little bit better than any of those.

Where is the Linbrook course at? Never heard of that one unless it goes by a different name.

I know of a Linbrook 9 hole in Pittsburgh PA but not in the Chicago IL area.

Several people think Two Mile Run Extension is
(also in PA) even better, but I haven't played that... yet.

My top 5 that I've played:

1) Nature Park - Mount Dora, Florida
2) Two Mile Run Extension - Beaver, Pennsylvania
3) Linbrook Park - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
4) Alligator Lake Park - Lake City, Florida
5) Airport Lakes Park - Orlando, Florida

I'm always amazed that people actually stop and play the 9-hole courses on their travels. Glad to hear that people have enjoyed Linbrook. It was my first course design that I pretty much solely did on my own, and the first course I got to be a part of the design after Moraine State Park. It's probably my favorite place to play disc golf and just walk in the woods. The good news is that it's finally going to be 18-holes like originally intended.

Also, Two Mile is a great 9-hole course with 2 sets of baskets per hole (Linbrook has 2 right now also as we prepare the back 9). And soon, Denny Park will take the title of best 9-hole course maybe anywhere once complete.

When I'm on the road, I pretty much only hit niners as a matter of convenience, whatever that convenience might be.

Pittsburgh's pretty much the halfway between Detroit and DC, so it's a nice area to get out from behind the wheel stretch and my legs when I'm driving back from visiting my daughter.

Linbrook and Two Mile Run are pretty quick and easy to get to from the hwy. If they were less accessible, I doubt I make it out to them.

I still have to play Two Mile, but it'll be appearing in my courses played list next time I head out there.

Looks like I'd have to take the long way round Pittsburgh to hit Denny Park. :\

Can you please move it closer to the turnpike?

The Bear in Midlothian Virginia just west of Richmond. A 9-holer on a very well manicured ball course. The fairways are tight giving long skip bounces. A monster taco stand where you pay to play, and after your round there's a bar and restaurant to enjoy. A good time!

The photo is the 5th fairway.

the recent reviews of rooster rock got me thinking about 9 holers. so i wanted to see if it was anywhere near the top(it's not), so here is the current list (thanks tim for top courses feature).
1. Laem Sor, Koh Samui, Thailand 16 reviews -4.22
2. Shu Pond DGC, Oconto, WI 13 reviews -4.04
3. North Las Vegas DiscGolfPark, North Las Vegas, NV 12 reviews -3.83
4. Lake Chabot DGC, Oakland, CA 11 reviews -3.82
5. Nature Park DGC, Mount Dora, FL 11 reviews -3.82
6. Parque De La Raza DGC, San Jose, CA 48 reviews -3.74
7. Skare Woods, Rochelle, IL 18 reviews -3.72
8. Golden Bell Camp & Conference Center, Divide, CO 14 reviews -3.64
9. Two Mile Run Extension, Beaver, PA 23 reviews -3.61
10. Lambs Creek, Menomonie, WI 18 reviews -3.61

really rooster rock is 2 nine hole courses just separated by the (large) parking lot; i just wonder if they were listed as one course how it would rank; i'm guessing in the 3-4 range, while now they are both sub 3. 9 holers get docked points for just being 9. these 2 courses are pretty different from each other, therefore providing the variety that a good course should have.
does anyone else know of 2 nine hole courses close together that would have a different rating if combined, or an 18 hole course that possibly could/should be 2 separate nines (especially if one of the nines would get a better rating if it was divided)?

Mid-South Community College (West Memphis, Arkansas); it's now called Arkansas State University Mid-South. This is from my review seven years ago:

"While this is officially an 18-hole course, it really plays like two nearby 9-hole courses. I don't know of many people who would walk across four lanes of traffic on a busy road and think they were on the same course."

The four-lane road mentioned is U.S. 70.

Two Mile Run Extension is the only current top 10 niner I have played, and it is legit. Linbrook, too, and I look forward to playing Denny Park next time I am in Pittsburgh. There are several other 9-holers that I would love to play on future travels.

What can I say, I enjoy a good short story and I enjoy a good 9-hole course.

Lake Marshall - The Lambs should make this list when it receives enough reviews (currently 4.10 with 5 reviews, including mine). A course needs what, 10 or so reviews to qualify?
