[Other] Disc Golf Vending Machine

Joe - Sorry if you took it that way, but truly no offense was intended.

I grew up in North Miami Beach, and lived in Ft Laud as well as Lake Worth. Compared to other metropolitan areas like Detroit, Charlotte, DFW, Pittsbugh, Cincy... So Fla simply doesn't have the same DG activity, nor the number of courses. If I'm not mistaken there's all 2 in all of Broward County (I saw some posts about a 3rd in development), another 5 in Dade, and two 8's and two 9's in Palm Beach. I've played Easterlin, Tradewinds and Okeeheelee - I just didn't see much traffic on any of them. When I play Kensington, Stony Creek, Firefighters, Benton Hills, Wagner... there are always plenty of other players (not that I necessarily like it).

I'm not saying So Fla has no Disc Golf scene, but it simply hasn't developed the userbase that other area's have.

And with the weather you get down there, I'd expect it to be busier in the fall and winter than during spring and summer, when it's tough to escape the heat.

No offense taken, your point was very valid, why not put your first teebox in a known high activity area. I was trying to be funny when I said come play in the summer (because it is hot as hell down here). Not a hot bed but more of a sweat-bed. With that said we are starting to pick up our game down in these parts. We are putting the sleeves in the ground at Heritage Park Plantation this Wednesday. I have some really good leads on two more possible courses in Broward. We have 5 leagues running and a couple more in Dade. You are correct Miami has 5 courses now. We also have our first retail store called TY Disc Golf. Check us out the next time you are in town.

My bad... didn't get the play on words with respect to temp. I suppose SoFla is hot bed for DG after all. My sense of humor must have powered down.

There was a thread here somewhere about them, too lazy to search right now.

bump for the fastest growing thread that died
curious to see of any progress

I don't think that the one at burns is getting a ton of use. It's a nice idea, but I think it's a pricing / entry point issue. Most serious disc golfers going to the park already have their kit with them. Anybody showing up fresh who doesn't have a PoR for the cost may blanche and stick with their dx plastic (most of the discs in the one at Burns is higher end). But I couldn't give you actual numbers.
