Post Your Disc Golf Injury Pics

You guys have no idea how many laughs I've gotten from your posts. The night aid has enjoyed much of this thread. Appreciate those following my journey and all the support.

Update:

Nurse Ratchet and I now communicate via witty sarcasm and some comically sharp barbs. Nothing too raw or biting, but we're growing on each other.

I've developed a new found respect for wheel chair atheletes.

Follow up visit with surgeon's office scheduled Tue, Mar 14...good chance the staples come out.

When I hear "nursing home", I am picturing a place with only old people. Do you really mean something else like a rehab facility?

The place I was working in was a nursing and rehabilitation center. There was individuals in their 50's recovering from injuries like bogies, as well as elderly people who are living there permanently.

Hoping for the best for you, man. A good attitude, like the one you have, towards recovery is incredibly important, especially when you've got something you're passionate about waiting for you upon a clean bill of health. Seen a few people just kinda roll over and give up after something like this. I don't think that will be the case for you.

I'm sure that's an important skill in a nursing facility :p

BnM: selected a nursing facility known for sexually abusing patients... hoping to get lucky.:D

Technically, its a Skilled Nursing facility, but the have an Excellent Rehab program. Specifically selected this place because ex wife used to work with the Director of Rehab here (at a previous job), and knew she ran a great program with good OT's and PT's, and a mile from my son.

But there are a ton of people here who are old and decrepit.

Thanks! I'm not normally a glass half full nor a glass half empty person. I'm "that glass is at 50%."

Although I have a strong tendency to b!tch and moan about stuff that isn't to my liking, I knew the moment this happened, lying in crumpled heap in the park, that the quality of the rest of my life depends on my attitude going forward, how I deal with this, and how much work I put into recovery.

I told myself
"You don't have time for woe is me. You need to get your head in a positive place, and you need to do it now."

For me, that's humor and problem solving.

No doubt a lot of things have fallen nicely into place for me since the injury, but I firmly believe life is 10% what happens to you; 90% what you do about it.

I'll save my b!tching and moaning for the next time I can't find a disc I shanked into the rough.

PT and OT sessions going really well.
Making progress every day.
I just gotta strap in for a long ride.
One of the exercises is simply trying to lift my leg, even though I can't (literally no movement in that direction), ...just to reestablish that .neural pathway, which has basically been dormant for over a week.

I bet the nurses and PT specialists keep talking about you when you're not around. "The nerve of that guy, I tell ya..." ;)

Whenever the uphill climb seems hard, remember that it's a good alternative to gangrene. :| :)

I decided that body modification isn't a good look for me, and ortho agreed, so...

Ortho removed the staples from both knees today, and applied steri-strips.

Too bad they didnt have glow steri-strips. :(

Juke's been rocking this thread with his witty retorts.
