Hello,
I was planning a trip and thinking of hitting some of the older courses. Using Steady Ed courses as my guide. I am a newer player with much to work on, as a result I think this trip would be fun and historical in an odd way. The courses should be fun for my wife and I. We like a good course, but obviously at this point in playing there are some courses we shouldn't even try.

West Park Joliet, Il

HoneyBear Campground, Peru, In

Miami Whitewater Forest Harrison, Oh

Winton Woods, Cincinnati, Oh

Woodland Mound Cincinnati, Oh

Iroquois Park Louisville Ky

Otter Creek Brandenburg, Ky

Any Suggestions?
I Have Heard about Idlewild, Mt Airy Forest, Lincoln Ridge Park in Cincinnati and may try to factor those in. Provided they aren't to Difficult for beginners ;)

Iroquois Park was redesigned in 2010 and is no longer a Steady Ed design. Still a good course though.

If you're thinking about playing the Masters later this year in the Louisville area you might want to check out Charlie Vettiner and Seviren Lang, the two courses that will be used for the tournament.

Woodland mound park in cincinnati has been redesigned twice since it was put in by steady ed. I guess most of the original holes are still there but it HAS changed.

Regards,
Osborne

Miami Whitewater has also been redesigned twice. No original holes left.
You would prolly enjoy Lincoln Ridge although the other courses you mentioned are really good but tough.

When you're in Joliet, West is fun but Highland is a lot more interesting. The white tees are challenging but not brutally so, and there's some fun elevation. There are even shorter (red) tees, but they're not concrete like the whites and blues.

I would skip Whitewater. The original 18 was a really nice course for what you're looking for but like others said, it's completely different. 9 holes and on the other side of the street.

Winton Woods would work for you, it's flat.

Woodland Mound has been redesigned but the best on your list for what you're looking for.

Embshoff, which is #8 on the list of courses from the local link below, is 9 holes and very short but I think you'd like it. It's on a little valley, you can see the whole course from any tee.

Will Do

I noticed that in your profile:p. Will send you a pm when things get a little more finalized and I know whats going on. Even not taking into the fact you have a travel tag, it is always fun to meet new people to disc with. Lord knows I can always use advice from better players!!!

Gotta back up mash on this one. Also, West Park has had several redesigns as well, so it's also not a true "Steady Ed" design anymore.

Aces & Chains highland park tourny

Yea that is a fun park :hfive: Played it about a week ago with a couple locals I met there. Drove there before work and shot a round then had to drive all the way back to Rockford to go to work  I will be there for the Aces & Chains tourny next sunday. I signed up for the novice division :) Hope to see you there! If I don't I was planning on pming you when the weather becomes a little more consistant and seeing if you wanted to meet somewhere to play around. You and jukeshoes seem very friendly and don't live that far away for a non work day round sometime!

Also a big thanks to everyone responding and helping me out. That is one thing I love about the sport, the vast majority are friendly and helpful!

I'll most likely be helping work the tourney Sunday  I'll be playing cameraman, or doing what ever other grunt work needs doing, lol

that should work just fine, nothing on the schedule that weekend, remind me a few days before when you have everything firm, i should have a different tag number or two by then :p

If my schedule allows, I'm always up for guiding Lincoln Ridge/Banklick. My favorite course, and I live about 5 minutes away.

4/18 is a Wednesday, so that means 6pm random draw dubs at Lincoln Ridge if you wanted to go that route.

Cool thanks Jcrabb66, Jay Dub & InnocentCrook! my schedule keeps shifting and I am trying to figure out where I will be when. I am emptying an apartment in kokomo this weekend since my wife finally got transfered to Rockford with me. Hopefully tomorrow I will have everything sorted. Looking like monday before I can catch jcrabb66 then get the other course in Wednesday still hopefully. What are good times for everyone?
