Did Discraft Earn Bragging Rights at 2011 Pro Worlds?

Did Discraft Earn Bragging Rights?

Nate had a Keen deal that allowed him to channel many thousands of dollars toward a non-profit of his choosing...this helped finance the reconstruction of DeLaveaga, and helped pay for the tee pads at CSUMB. He worked as part of the Worlds staff, and promoted the event and helped to recruit more sponsors. And he put countless hours of sweat and labor into the courses themselves.

Karma pays.

They can brag about Nate and Paige winning.
They should be embarrassed that they didn't sponsor Wolrds.

Both Nate and Paige are so talented I give absolutely no credit to their disc sponsor.
I know from talking with some top players that Discraft is a PIA and does not treat their pros that well.
I also know both Nate and Paige could win throwing any manufacturer.
Don't be surprised to see both Discraft and Innova lose pros to L64, Discmania (yes still innova), MVP and Legacy etc...in the future.
I think Nate likes the Rampage........

Talent + Karma + nice guy=2011 PDGA World Champion.

They dont even need to bragg, discraft is huge. Mcabe won it last year and nate and paige this year. They are givin innova a run for there money. Innova better step up there game asap.

What does PIA stand for? Also, do you mean Discraft doesn't treat their pros well as in they disrespect them, or they don't pay them well?

There is so much bs in this thread its not even funny.

From my understanding, innova vs dc sponsorship goes that innova only treats team star well, argueablly better the dc, but dc treats their lower level players better.
Seems dc invested in a lot of young players and its starting to pay off for them.
I've also heard that dc has a family feel.

As far as d records, both companies have had good showings including the valk, tb, xs, and xl.

Also, imho, if I was dc I wouldn't sponsor 2011 worlds either. It was the year they tried to outcast a large group of members for the hopes of potential players that probally didn't spectate and won't purchase the dvd.

Discraft is a private company that can basically do whatever they want. There are way too many factors at play for us to point fingers as to why they didn't choose to sponsor Pro Worlds though. They didn't see the pro's outweigh the cons (no pun intended). This poll question (sorry Jhern but werent you involved with the organization of worlds?) comes of as inflammatory, but hey, that's what the message board is all about so go for it! but is there more to this story that you are not telling us?

I will also say that I feel dc, in comparision to innova, rips off their champs with weak sig discs.

They support their players above and beyond what they have to, and their players are at the top of the game.

I'd say they've earned respect.

I'm willing to bet they did sponsor Worlds in some way. I really don't know or care though.

This thread is going well.

lol Any company that sponsors a winning athlete, in any sport, earns bragging rights. It's precisely why they sponsor athletes in the first place. Does Titlelist, Innova, or Nike equipment help these athletes any more than their rival competing companyies help their sponsored players? Or, is it just a combination of great equipment and uber talent?

We can all just say Discraft is a little better. They now have bragging rights that Innova doesn't which is fine even though they didn't sponsor the event.

Pretty tacky...WTF! Way to grow the game Discraft! Heck Nate better have one the darn thing. It's only been his home course/courses for his entire disc golf life.

OK, so you want more sponsors? but a company that makes discs doesn't even sponsor an event as big as this! LAME...........

The real winner from worlds.... Soccer goals

I wonder if Wilson brags everytime a team wins a game because it was with their football.

Discraft simply chose not to.It doesn't mean anything at all. They do plenty to help our sport grow and prosper. From what I've seen for the short time I've been involved in this great sport DC really seems to care more about disc golf and the casual disc golfer.Innova seems like they just want to make as much money as possible making plastic.Their new Factory Store is a perfect example of a company desperate to rake in money from us.I've dealt with both companies when putting together a disc golf summer program for our local kids.Innova didn't care about my cause in the least.Discraft went above and beyond to help me and they put together an awesome package for me.I throw both companies discs but if I ever want to do something where I need plastic and or some sponsor I'm dealing with DC.

I wouldn't sponsor an event that essentially told a ton of players that they were too trashy to be seen by all of the spectators (lol).

OK, I may be wrong here. In major sporting events the biggest company's step up to sponsor the event. If Coke sponsors the "Super Bowl", Coke gets the rights to use the name, and Coke becomes the exclusive cola of the "Super Bowl". Sure Pepsi can buy ads from Fox or whomever is airing the Super Bowl, but it is still not sponsoring the Super Bowl itself, it can't use the name because it lost the bidding war. Why would Innova sponsor "Worlds" unless they get the same exclusive deal? Obviously they outbid Discraft, and they did this to benefit themselves...the same reason Discraft sponsors Am Worlds.

This is spot on! Which essentially means bonus bragging points to DC.... Innova may have won the bidding war, but Discraft's Team won the event!
