I have experience with the S Curve Flex Shot, and have produced many good drives with them. What I also find is even when it is windy, Flex Shots are always an option if the stability is right.

But this spring was the first time I really started using hyzer flips, and I was greatly impressed with the distance. I was using a Star Vulcan, and at a time when I was throwing 260'-270', I tape measured a hole and hyzer flipped one 360'.

The problem I had was consistency. It didn't always flip. Also, the stability of the disc I was using was pretty flippy, so even if I moved to a Roadrunner, I do not think this would be a good shot in the wind.

Still, I would like to hear from some players who have used both styles of long distance throwing, and what you preferred and why?

I prefer hyzer flips because, imo, more often than not, most people who flex discs just can't get them up to speed. I will say I'm getting pretty fond of flexing hornets for approach shots.

Hyzer flips get me more distance on actual, usable golf lines. You can hit some really tight lines for a lot of distance if you can get your hyzer flips dialed in. In windy conditions, just put more hyzer on the disc or use a slightly more stable disc. Flexing a disc for distance usually calls for a lot more room to work.

I think if I knew how to hyzer flip efficiently I could throw 400+ nearly on command, but alas...

:(

Something I definitely plan on working on this winter.

Hyzer flips are good for straighter shots/low ceiling/tighter gaps. Flex shots are good if u have the room and they are better for placement shots for me.

Flex shots look cooler, hyzer flips are more useful because you can hit tighter lines.

I flex when i need to get around trees and obstacles and hyzer-flip when i want straight and long d with certain discs. flexes give me more distance imo.

I love hyzer flips because I feel that you can generate more power if you pull through kind of under your chest, like a ball golf swing sort of, and that outs you at a natural hyzer release angle. And you can pop one up high or keep it low. It's a super versatile shot to have mastered.

I do however throw some flex shots with my Nuke and am always pleased with the result.

I like to throw flat most of the time. But as the disc gets more beat in, i'll have to hyzer flip dat shiz

When people say flex shot for distance I envision torque monkeys eating bananas and dancing with toothbrushes.

It's called a distance anhyzer and it fades straight as it flexes out of the anny line to maximize distance. A distance hyzer-flip is actually a fairly similar line, but adds another dimension to the line as it flips up and over to anny and flexes/fades out straight. Depends on the tailwind and the hole as what I'm throwing, although its really rare I throw a distance line on the course. All things being equal I prefer the distance anny because I find it more consistent since it has less dimensions. When dealing with headwinds I throw as flat and low as possible.

Hyzer flips produce a wide variety of different flight patterns and finishes. Flex shots are, by definition, nearly the same shape every time.

Which you throw will depend on the wind and the shape of your hole  Any crosswinds affect hyzer flips and flex shots differently. On a wide open shot I'm usually throwing something fairly neutral with a little hyzer.

I agree with these 3^^. I like a flex shot for throwing for maxD, but on the course I will rarely throw a flex shot, but will likely throw a straight shot with a neutral disc.

I throw a hyzer-flip of sorts for D lines, and golf lines that need distance if the wind allows. I feel like I get a lot more power when pulling through on a hyzer line. When throwing for really big D in an open field, I'll hyzer-flip a katana or beat wraith high and to the left with a crap-load of snap, it will actually turn all the way over and flex out for distance. This is the perfect distance throw (IMHO) in a left-to-right tail-wind (RHBH).

right now i don't have a good disc to get a hyzer flip out of so right now i throw either flat shots with a understable disc or flex shots.

i like hyzer flips and i believe they will go farther, but they also take a lot more practice to be consistent. they also work in much tighter shots

they i voted for hyzer flip. i have been working on big ol' echo destroyer turnover shot. been kinda exiting...it's not a shot that i really throw.

hyzer flip disc of choice --- echo wraith with some wear on it. mmm mmm

Anyone ever shoot hole four at BRP? Two hyzer flips with a seasoned Sidewinder and a ten foot putt for three. Hyzer flips are crazy straight and if you know your disc well enough you can throw massive hyzer flip flex shots that go forever. Only throw flexes to get past trees and then come back behind them. My forehand shots are almost always flexes (probably due to bad form).

i learned hyzer's when i first started playing, once i got better the discs flipped on me and i got a lot more distance. i never throw anhyzers for distance, i rarely throw anhyzers, only for trick shots on tough holes or i have a bad lie
