[Innova] The Valkyrie, a discussion.........

Good grief! Comparing the Valkyrie to the Thunderbird is apples and oranges! They're nowhere near the same mold, at all.

Yes, pros tend to go for more overstable discs, but to say one throws the Thunderbird instead of the Valk, as if that's the "either-or" choice, completely disregards the different nature of these discs.

All that aside, most pros that bag an understable disc are tending towards the Roadrunner or Sidewinder (and related). They also might disc up to the Beast. The Valk isn't "caught up" vis-a-vis the Thunderbird, it's "caught up" vs. some other excellent choices in the understable range, as well as higher speed discs once not available.

Love my 150g champ valks.

My favorite is a gummy flat 150.

Then a Flattish, stiffer one.

All your Valks, are belong to us.

I tend to stick to Pro/Star but will definitely pick up good feeling champ ones...

I'm really hoping they bring back the production Glow Champion Valkyries from a few years back. I'm down to my last one. They fly 9/4/-1/2 and hold that stability for a really long time. Been my most used distance driver since they came out. That's why I keep losing them to water hazards and forest gnomes.

They were in a series of production glow champion along with the Wraith, Archon & RR. Not sure if there were others. They another run.

I kick myself that I didn't pick up a couple of the glow champs to keep around as my "windy" Valkyrie...even though a fresh Star can handle about all the wind I generally play in.

I have a couple of those flat-topped Star Valks that are really overstable, especially compared my Pro Valks and even my F2 Champion Valk. They're still out there if you're seeking an OS Valk.

I don't like those...sure they are good in the wind but they are just glideless lawn darts...Valks need to fly and glide

Those aren't really Valks. I didn't like mine when I first bought it but then started thinking of it as a not so over stable firebird, started throwing it as such and really like it now.
But not as a Valk.

Agree on all points. Those brick-"ish" Star Valks can be used as Thundrebird -wannabees, but they're not the Valks most people expect.

And see I would rather bag a Thunderbird...because those are OS AND glide, but if I'm playing in enough wind where my freshest Valk can't handle it...I really should go home, because it's too damn windy.

Side note: the Infinite Discs SPHINX has a Valkyrie top and Roadrunner bottom. Really good mold. If you like the Valk, Sidewinder, and/or Roadrunner, give a Sphinx a try.

I'm really curious about this. How is distance? More valkish or roadrunnery?

It really is between the Valk and RR. Maybe a little bit towards the RR, as the Sphinx is understable. But the Sphinx is its own disc, i.e. it's pretty unique unto itself. Distance is pretty much the same as the other two, depending on plastics and all those other factors...

Bagged a Star Valk for about 4 years now. Still my go-to fairway driver, and flies far and straight for days. I can get great flex lines out of it, or laser it. My arm speed is definitely starting to turn it over, but it's a beautiful disc for distance with little effort. I used to have a Star-lite Valk that would pretty much fly forever, but lost it a couple years back. Sometimes it makes me wonder how far I could throw a super light Valk these days.

The production Glow Champion Valkyries that were being made a couple years ago are by far my favorite. I've lost two over the years because I use them so much. Only have one left & am afraid to bag it because they aren't making them right now. These are amazing FH drivers. Can handle plenty of snap but still give that straight-stable Valkyrie flight.

I hate I missed that run...I really hope Innova tries another run of Glow Valks
