Good grief! Comparing the Valkyrie to the Thunderbird is apples and oranges! They're nowhere near the same mold, at all.
Yes, pros tend to go for more overstable discs, but to say one throws the Thunderbird instead of the Valk, as if that's the "either-or" choice, completely disregards the different nature of these discs.
All that aside, most pros that bag an understable disc are tending towards the Roadrunner or Sidewinder (and related). They also might disc up to the Beast. The Valk isn't "caught up" vis-a-vis the Thunderbird, it's "caught up" vs. some other excellent choices in the understable range, as well as higher speed discs once not available.
