I do think they should pay out the first 50 places like they did. But the structure for 1st through 3rd is far too low for a World Championship.

Just as a point of comparison, the payout for the top 3 in the PGA is 18%, 10.8%, and 6.8%. Based on that formula, the payout, rounded to the nearest dollar, would be $5,900, $3,540, and $2,229.

Based on the actual payout, the formula works out to 15%, 10.7%, and 7.6%, which doesn't strike me as unreasonable, given the depth of the payout.

Paul's drive on the second hole of the final 9 was by far the biggest drive I have ever seen anyone throw off that tee. this includes the final 9 competitors in 2010.
