I was just reading through some posts on another forum and noticed some people talking about a pro players terrible attitude on and off the course. I was just curious if anyone has played with / know of any touring pros with bad attitudes or even those with great ones.

I heard the other day that Avery is a real jerk, but from what I read and watched he seems to be a pretty cool and genuine guy. Any thoughts?

Avery I met in Corpus last October and is very cool, signed my 01 and even shot the $hit for a second. Yeti and Coda are super cool as well. Mccabe, Owens, Olse, all cool from the times that I have met them. I have heard that Feldberg is kind of a prick but never met him. I have heard that Kenny is cool too.

Originally being from Tulsa, I have met and seen Coda around the course a number of times and he has been courteous and cool every time I have run into him. Since Playing in Texas I have really enjoyed playing in tournaments where Miles Seaborn and Dixon Jowers have been around and been helpful to younger players.

I'm good buddies with Steve Rico... and he's a super cool guy. If you catch him at his home course (Sylmar)... he's always happy to shoot the ****, give pointers and possibly even play a round.

I've also played a round with Paul Ulibari, Paul McBeth, Kyle Crabtree, Josh Anton, and others...

Ulibari was pretty cool. He was way better than I am, but wasn't cocky about it. Complimented my good shots, etc...
Crabtree is cool too. He even wore one of my DSCJNKY t-shirts during the final round of a tourney. That was cool. I didn't ask him to. I just gave him one... two days later he rocked it for me.

I'm sure they all (pros) have a cockiness about them... but that is because a bunch of "lame-brains" want to hang on their nuts when they see them. Just act regular to them... and they will act regular to you. That's been my situation.

All of the pros that I have met have been really cool guys. I've heard stories about some, but have never met them to say for sure.
I do think that some of the pros do go into a totally different mindset when playing competitively that may make them come off as arrogant, or pricks, but I'm sure they are totally cool off the course.

Ulibari was pretty cool.

Heard a negative report about a pretty embarrassing tantrum he threw at a recent tournament after a bad final hole. Gear and expletives flew freely for quite some time after holing out.

Really didn't paint a pretty picture, especially since all of the other leaders were cordial and level headed all tournament long.

Could just be an isolated incident though. We all lose it once in a while.

the entire jenkins family is a joy to be around- i'd consider avery among the least likely people i know in dg to be a "real jerk".

i have had the opportunity over the years to be around a ton of the top golfers over the age of 25 or so at this point. i have never found a single one of them to be a real prick off the course- there are any number of them who can be/ have been pricks on the course. when every missed putt is a cheeseburger you aren't going to eat...

ive never heard of this =O i know most people i meet out on the course are good guys, and always assumed the pro's were aswell.

I totally get being upset on the course for missing shots. I got the same feeling about the Jenkins family, so when I heard about the avery comment I was rather surprised. However I have heard that Val has talked some trash about my native Oklahoma ;)

having never played with "pros" I can't comment, but I have played a LOT with advanced ams... from what I've ascertained, 2/3 of them are egomaniacs... (and OCD gamblers) the other 1/3rd THANKS but hey, there's aholes/cool people everywhere, you just gotta deal...

IMO everyone is a jerk or a cool person. Just depends on timing. Some days I can even be an a** and others I'm a great guy.
We all have those days, so I expect even the pros do to. After all they are human.......or so I think.

Most of the local pros I have played with are pretty cool guys, some might be considered egotistically "quirky". Keep in mind that negative press is more apt to be reported than positive, always.

Well I have had the honors of chatting with barry shultz after a local tournament (he came down to the C-teir only becuase Mark Hezlep is good friends with him and he was running the tournament) I got him talking about his "cage" moment in georgia i think it was...there is a youtube video of it...quite entertaining! I have spoke with liz lopez and was in a group with one of her friends that were tourning with her and eric mcCabe...funny thing was, brian cummings (our indiana state rep or should be) presented eric with 3rd place in open and was like..whats your name?...I just laughed lol

Every pro I'm met or gotten to know has been very cool. They are normally very approachable and don't give the impression that because they are better at disc golf, that makes them a better person than anyone else.

Not to come of as a jerk myself, but I'm sure most of the people on this site make more money than a touring disc golf pro. You have to realize these guys and gals are living out of cars and crashing on couches when they can. It isn't like you typical pro athlete with mansions and sports cars.

I love disc golf and think it would be amazing to see it main stream but it's not the nba or nfl. I would hope these discers wouldn't have an ego because they are professionals. 99% of the public doesn't know who they are.

I have known Dave Greenwell for some time and he is a stand out guy. He has done a ton for the sport and is the main reason why we have courses in the area.

Most of the pros around here are pretty cool and down to earth.

I met Nikko and Feldberg this weekend and they both were friendly and seemed like great guys. I saw them both share info with each other while still in competetion. I thought that was kinda cool and said alot about them both.

So I am playing in a tournament this weekend and just noticed that Cale Leiviska and Paul Ulliberi are playing along with a bunch of the local pros, like Mike Randolph, Joe Rovere and Mitch Sonderfan. Anyone have a story about Leiviska or Ulliberi?

I feel comfortable saying that everyone here has at least one person that for whatever reason thinks you are a jerk or an a-hole. Most people don't get through life smelling like roses to everyone.

The only thing I've heard about a pro is from another AM that has told me he got to hang out with Nate Doss for a little bit and that he's a super nice and chill guy.
