With Nikko Locastro having left for Prodigy and JohnE McCray now going to Latitude 64, what player will step up for Gateway? Will it be a newcomer, yet to make a name for themselves, or is there someone who is already well known, of whom I am not aware, who is throwing a mixed bag with Wizards (or something else)?

Zack Tyler Johnson started to emerge over the last couple of months and I think is picked up by GDS. Don't forget, they always have Kid sitting at the shop who can throw down 1030+ rated rounds at the drop of a hat.

Zack Johnson is a very strong up and comer.

I spend a lot of time with DaveMac and he has a much different vision of DG than most people in his position. He is less focused on tourney golf and more concerned with growing the game in different ways. I know firsthand how much passion he has for DG bc he has been beyond receptive about helping us bring RDG molds to life. He also has grand visions for a safer sport.

I applaud Dave & the Gateway guys for being different than any other company out there. They march to their own beat and I wouldn't have my hometown DG company any other way.

We've sponsored him at a few rounds this year and he has done RDG proud. Justin is just one of those guys that can win anything he attempts. Cashed in a fishing tourney this year, 30+ 300 games of bowling, wizard BOMBS. All with absolutely no ego. I love Justin. And he's knows it. /homorant

I have been wondering what this means, as I have seen this mentioned before when talking about Gateway and I have no clue what it is about. Like not plunking pedestrians?

One thing is just a smarter design plan for courses. Too many park courses have blatant blind shots that could injure pedestrians. He is also pretty fired about about long wing drivers being uses in public parks. We had a local take a champ boss to the head last year and it wasn't pretty. He wants to start up a course inspection type committee that walks courses and assess potential hazards. The bigger our sport gets, the more risk we are at for something truly bad happening.

Kind of ironic he has that stance considering his company produces(d?) the widest rim golf disc on the market...one so wide it was rejected for PDGA approval.

Obviously, if an incident changed his outlook and that disc has been discontinued, that removes the irony.

I think he is more leaning for the public/multi use parks to be limited (it would help if some of the family/putt and pitch had a no driver rule), where as more strictly disc golf only areas would be set up for the big guns. Also the Ninja wasn't rejected, it was never intended for approval since they know the cutoff is 2.5 and made it larger, there was only one real run if I remember correctly, they make for good little CTP or distance contest prizes.

Call me thick on this one...isn't the "threat" the same (or more!) for the disc golf players walking the course? And if so....

Oops. Funny how little words like "for" can change the whole meaning.

He made that disc more as a jab at PDGA than anything else.

As a huge Gateway fan, i do wish they were more into sponsoring a pro team. However, I get his point, producing cheap good discs and great new courses is more important for business. Zach J. is for sure the strongest gateway player now. Don't forget the Titan, I feel like it is the industry standard for baskets.

I believe the Titan will not be sold for new courses unless Dave either designs it or approves the course design.

This just sounds silly. Maybe he's making more money off Wizards than I thought if he can be so selective.

Didn't something spill over to here or DGR about him refusing to sell baskets because he considered the design unsafe?

As mentioned earlier in this thread, Dave has become very concerned about company exposure the way several courses and holes he's seen are designed and installed.
