The Inevitable 2017 Pros Switching Sponsors Thread

Boohoo, imagine if she had to live in the real world.

If Prodigy didn't pay a bonus and it was in her contract, then she could have legally broken said contract.

I would be willing to bet they had a clause in their contracts (after having a full line up) saying she had to throw Prodigy during sanctioned play.

The more I hear about her situation, the more I think she acted like a spoiled child.

Good thing she had her buddy Emac to score her a spot with DD.

Hopefully they don't sign an up and coming female pro who eventually gets better than her.

And all this went down before she started throwing DD in the bag. Bet if the shoe was on your foot you would be doing the same thing. Oh wait that's right. who you sponsored by again? I forget

Seriously this just cements my opinion of her.

I'm sure she gives a rats ass about your opinion of her

BTW, I really enjoyed reading your posts in the Bradley Williams' suspension thread. You were chocked full of righteous indignation towards the PDGA. You defense of BW was spectacular.

Yep, PP is a spoiled brat because some hypocrite on DGCR said so.

This is why I wish Terry had the journalistic integrity to ask tough questions like "Please explain why you were dissapointed with Prodigy" I mean she was literally trash talking Prodigy in the interview, although in a kind of veiled way, but it was obvious. Why Terry doesn't ask a simple question like that is very annoying.

You don't truly think of TM as a journalist do you????????

They let their pros throw other companies' discs in 2013 because Prodigy only had 3 putters and 4 distance drivers PDGA approved (and they had no baseline plastic). They didn't have most of their fairways and mids for at least a year as I recall (can't remember when they finally released baseline plastic). I think most of their pros were allowed to throw a mixed back for at least 2013 and 2014 just because Prodigy didn't have a full lineup yet. Now that's not to say shenanigans with stamping didn't go on even AFTER Prodigy had a full lineup, but the first year it was just a matter of Prodigy not having created all their molds yet. They couldn't require players contractually to throw a bag full of discs that hadn't been created yet.

Thanks for the clarification. I am relatively new to the professional side of disc golf and thought I had heard that Prodigy was letting their team members throw other plactic at one point.

Now this is an interesting development.

I think the most interestinf part is the implication is that Innova is sweetening the pot for their Number One Guy and allowing him to only have one sponsor. Great for players, bad for smaller companies trying to get into a crowded market by sponsoring a pro for their bags or clothes or shoes or what have you...but hey, chances are those smaller companies couldnt afford McBeth anyway.

I have to say if Mcbeth dropped Adidas I can't see how that is a good move. Having a mainstream manufacturer involved was one of the high points of 2016. Nearly everyone I play with wears adidas shoes now. I will bite my tongue and wait to see but seems like a step backward.

It leads me to believe that Innova is developing ita own shoe...perhaps even in partnership with Adidas! I could be waaaaaaayyyy off as I am only guessing with absolutley no proof.

Maybe all his external contracts were a year long and were done once 2016 ended. Perhaps the vendor didn't see the return on investment they were hoping for and didn't want to renew them. Although, I remember reading somewhere about the jump in Adidas Outdoor Shoe sales after McBeth was under contract. Wish I could remember where that was.

You play with a highly impressionable bunch, for sure. Good thing it was just shoes, and not Clown College he was advertising...

I'd guess Adidas sponsorship might have been contingent on him actually staying the World Champion, although I'm probably totally wrong. A more mainstream brand like Adidas may not be willing to stick around if they perceive he's not the best in the sport (since they really aren't sponsoring anyone else in the sport). Or they may not have seen a big enough return on their investment. Or Innova could be making a shoe (ugh, please no). I DO think that it's unfortunate for everyone to lose one of the few big name outside brand sponsorships in disc golf.

Adidas has been sponsoring all kinds of people and events etc the past year. A guy i know goes to different restaurants or clubhouses/gyms and gives away a bunch of $tuff from shoes to hoodies.

no where in my post did I say people bought adidas shoes because Mcbeth wore them

You'd've been right though. I read so many comments on FB about people buying them when he announced the sponsorship because he wore them.

Poor joke and no where in my post did I say people bought adidas shoes because Mcbeth wore them

I personally ordered 2 pair because they were only $67 and better than any other shoe I have worn for disc golf.

Well, you sure seem to imply that. Nothing wrong with wearing Adidas, in any event. If they had wide widths I might try them-but they don't, so it's Asics or NB for me.

I may be wrong, but Adidas Outdoor sponsored more disc golfers than just McBeth. That he's no longer sponsored doesn't mean they're out of the game entirely.

Also, why "ugh, please no" to the notion of Innova producing a shoe? What bad could possibly come from them doing that? If you don't want it, you don't have to buy it.

Because you have to hate on Innova to be one of the cool kids :|
