Well you know where my vote is... throwing and putting it's a plasma Envy.... 165g.. Thanks for asking :)

There's lots of great putters that don't have a wide appeal but Zone should be up there.. It's driver kinda forgiving at putter speed... it doesn't exactly shape all kinds of shots but you can jam on em hard!

I don't know about all time but the Zone has to be the best selling throwing putter of the last few years.

I suck so the zone is a great throwing putter for me-no finesse needed like on a more neutral putter

Haha that's what I was thinking about the Zone.. It was the first putter I really threw too.. Takes OAT like a champ! It's an awesome disc though always comes back.

Well ,the Wizard is the best....here is why...
The extra thickness near the rim not only made the Wizard super durable to hold up to the beating of a driving putter... But it also added extra "gyro" and spin to hold and lock onto a line.

This was in 2002.....well before "gyro" was "new tech".

The suregrip plastic is still some of, it not the best, base plastic on the market.

Gateway is terrible at marketing and has no professional support but the Wizard is still one of the top 5 best all round putters in the game.

Gateway has managed to survive as a company ,while horribly underachieving, and its all thanks to one disc ...

The Wizard....

The Wizard....

I have been throwing a diamond Wiz in my mix of field practice discs. I'm not THAT confident with it yet but considering I'd never heard of a "throwing putter" a couple years ago I'm leaps and bounds ahead of where I was.

What i love most about a Wizard...is their base plastic is a beast....a Firm Wizard can last me all season off the tee. I greatly prefer base plastic grip over any premium plastic...

Once i stop liking the stability off the tee, after a lot of use ...guess what?...its now the perfect putter stability for me.

Wizardsaare decent, I've had a few that were good.. Buy 5 and you should have every shot stability covered and if you're lucky two that fly the same. Haha.. Seriously though superglow for me, if I threw something like that.

Prodigy deserves representation in the poll, for sure. Terrific throwing putters in many plastic options as non limited runs.

Wizards and Ions have been my favorites.

I voted Aviar and Wizard. I would need to review Threeputt's past posts to remember the history, but aren't those basically the originals? People have been throwing them for 1-2 decades, and still throw them. Anecdotally, the best putter throwers I see (on the course) are throwing Wizards or Aviars. Wizards don't get a ton of pro love simply because Gateway doesn't have a strong sponsorship game, but there are definitely pros out there bagging them.

Most of the others on the list came in quite a bit later, right? To call the Envy, Proxy, or even the Ion the best seems unfair just because they haven't been around as long. By the same token, I think it would be ridiculous to put the Luna in that category. Even a Judge or Pure just hasn't been around long enough.

By the way, I'm still between Bill Russell and Michael Jordan for "best basketball player of all time." I'll wait until Monday to entertain a quarterback discussion ;)

Hey guys, I am thinking about making a video covering all time great throwing putters.

I was talking to a few folks at league last night about the Envy potentially being the best, but there of course were many opinions. I've put some popular options in the poll but feel free to write in any you think are great.
I just had a thought...

The '00's big dogs of driving putters were Wizards, KC Aviars and Challengers. It would be cool to see how those three stack up against the onslaught of putters that have come out in the last decade. Specifically it would be cool to see if the Challenger is still in the ballpark since it is no longer the flagship putter for Discraft.

That's a very cool idea, stack the three premier old school putters against three newer ones that are high in the poll.

Good ideal!

I voted Big Bead Aviar. It has served many great disc golfers for many years. Although, if I switched to Wizards, Judges, or something else similar, I doubt I would even notice.

I'd put the Breaker on my list of 'best throwing putters' for sure. It's actually a putter too, not a midrange disguised as a putter like the zone

Wizard/Breaker is my approach game...if i need beefier i step up to a Quake...if i need more understable, i will start using the Sol.

This whole combo seems to have all my putt and approach (forehand and backhand) locked in.

Easily the K1 Reko. Best handfeel, best plastic, and perfect stability (a touch more stable than a Luna). It's a true workhorse.

I'm sort of convinced that Discraft's lack of good baseline plastic knocked the Challenger out of the discussion. Also, while Gateway and Innova have demonstrated commitment to the Wizard and Aviar through the years, Discraft seems to always be trying to find another new putter, even more in recent years. Maybe it's because they know the Zone is awesome and continues to be imitated by everyone, but that the Challenger has never quite matched Wizards and Aviars as a cycle-able workhorse thrower and/or putter?

I'm sure you can correct a whole lot of ignorance in there... be my guest!

Pleasantly surprised that, so far, out of 52 votes, there isn't a single Luna vote. Interesting......

I think it just confirms Paul hasn't been on DGCR since the poll opened.

I was gonna post something similar. Even in premium plastic i wouldnt trust the challenger as a driving putter.

Maybe a old cryztal chally but that's it.

I remember hearing really good things about the ESP-FLX Chally too, but it just seems like most golfers want a throwing AND putting putter in baseline AND "premium" baseline plastic. E.g. I still have a classic X Challenger (not soft) that I loved for throwing and putting, but it just wasn't KC Pro or DX or Soft or RFF or ...
