[MVP] Uplink -Midrange (complete historical records of its awesomeness)

It's a very intuitive disc for me, I am getting it to do a number of shots, but two very well:

With just a slight adjustment in either angle or spin I can get a very straight shot that fades out late left (mild fade) or I can run the same shot and with a minor adjustment I can get a straight shot with a that very late right turn. The shots are not mirrors of each other but both very useful as I have no real forehand.

I'm not a high power player so when I play woods I mainly use mids which is exactly the plans I have for this disc. I doubt I will pull it out of the bag often on the open, longer courses, but it will be a workhorse in the woods. Hence why I need several, I lose 2 or 3 discs a year with a bad kick in the woods. I cringe at the thought of going into the season with 1 copy of a disc that costs $35 to replace, lol

Geez that's what I pay CAD and that's like 0.75 on the dollar haha. I'm surprised there isn't more enthusiasm for it I'm hoping the stock release will help. I think a bunch of people are "collecting" all of a sudden. It's when I collected a fleer box set of B.b. cards back in 93. Everyone was doing it and they ain't worth ****.

Throw it you bastard.. Anyhow. Don't despair there will be cheap ones soon enough. I don't think it grabbed like with the hex, too many torque-monkeys out there I suppose.

Keep it real dude.

I'm patiently waiting for the chance to grab one. It's going straight up against my Wombat3 for US mid in my bag. I've also a Paradox to see how the two compare.

Mine are in the mail, hope to throw them soon.

2x 168
2x 177

Nothing down to the 165 mark but close.
Looking to bag one of each and have a backup (I throw mids more than anything).

Well I cracked out another uplink, taggedat 177 scaled to 179. I guess I will be searching out a wicked heavy one and a light one. Why have discs I'm not throwing haha. Anyhow.

Made for a fun yard round, uplink vs uplink was just what I needed. Caught a 159 plaz inertia in the mail to set the drive. Worn green vs fresh pink..

Both of em flew too high over the pin a few times to ace, doubled as a touch putter. Kind of. I think I need to spin em harder on the 45ft anny's.

I'll spare you the blow by blow but it was a battle of approaches. No great putts. The green machine led off on 10 held straight for 5' too long, overcorrected on the pink and went high with a panning fade. Both parked.

Repeat ad nauseam... got caught a few times on that straight gyro push, went around deep on one tree with a hyzer when I was Ace running, hit the tree the second time. The glide is insane up short on a hyzer. Same with a few hyzer fairway drives, I expected them to fade and they pushed 15-20' too far before fading. Another time they kinda rode straight not caring they were on a hyzer at all until late flight. Both flew about the same.

Surprisingly the anhyzers didn't cut as deep up short but still the disc responded well it tried to shape it but they kind of dropped out of the sky.

Conclusion is they are still not a putter and they really love a little hyzer.

Which is weird because I'm into flat shots but it's still very intuitive. The late turn is controllable and makes you feel like a star when you use it.

Thought of the day: a fresh uplink is wrong haha. Too much stability until you think the stability is there. These things need a month of thumpin to be right.

Worn green wins again, still can't putt either worth sh#rt. They just go straight in the circle no matter how much hyzer I add.

The hyzer flips with worn greenie were absolutely golden. It's like it beat the edges off the flight, just so much smoother. You wouldn't think so little time would make a difference

Three Uplinks on the way - looking forward to tossing.

Uplink vs. Wombat3 should be interesting.

Oooh snag any light ones? I'm wishlisting a 165/7

But maybe a 170 haha. Heavy seems right though, full on gyro lid action. What the vertex should have been

Crazy man, can't wait to hear, that'sa big investment 3 at the same weight

Yeah I think I'm still a little gun shy about not being able to find backup discs. ;)

But hey, new discs usually sell if they don't fit my bag. Hoping not to test that. :D

169 Neutron Uplink was delivered this afternoon so I headed out to Clark's Run. I'm not gonna be that guy who says "I played one round and this is the most amazing thing since sliced bread." But after a few throws to get the feel, I was pretty happy with the Uplink. Gonna keep testing, anyway. Some notable throws:

Hole 13: 639' dogleg right (tough par 4). Yanked my drive onto the right rough so I needed to patent pending around the dogleg. Put the Uplink on a high anny and it floated waaaaaaay around the corner, panning slightly but never fading as it slowed down. One of my favorite throws of the day.

Hole 6: 228' slightly downhill tunnel, basket on the right side of the fairway. I usually throw a beat-up putter on slight hyzer, hoping it will flip up and drift right. Tried the Uplink and it held that line beautifully, finishing with a slight fade.

Hole 15: 408' dogleg left (gettable par 4): Decent drive left me with a steeply uphill left-to-right approach. Put the Uplink on a high anny and it slid inside the circle without cut-rolling or fading early.

Had a couple of recovery shots where I needed a high hyzer out of the woods that flattened out to stay on the fairway. Uplink did that line nicely, too.

On a downhill approach, Uplink held the line I wanted but landed 50' past the basket. Note to self: this sucker can gliiiiiiiide.

Uplink is understable, no doubt, and can be unforgiving of operator error. But when I did my part, I found the Uplink remarkably predictable and intuitive for an understable mid.

Tentative thumbs up!

So was that a downhill a straight run? And have you got any straight hyzerflip runs?

I've been doing a gentle hyzerflip on a steep downhill. The margin of error is mostly pleasant, sometimes it wanders anny but hooks back. It's usually a toss up between a laser and 25' left (lhbh). Sometimes I overestimate its turn and it hyzers off way too far.

I have had remarkable placement even when I think I overdo it. 176g for me. Yeah I've had some overshoots haha, and some undershoots. I was real excited to see your post. Held off reading it until I got my beer open. :D I even tried it in some wind the other day with better results than expected. It's a very unique disc. Weirdly reliable for how understable it kinda is.

Downhill was hyzer-flip to straight to miss an early tree on the left. Flipped up to straight and just kept going. And going.

Oh yeah, plenty of straight hyzerflip runs 'round here but often approaches rather than drives (um, assuming I can keep it on the fairway). Hyzer flip to straight should get a good workout next time I play Seneca Creek.

Hole 10 is steeply downhill, 249' with a guarded basket just beyond a steep stream bank. Best play is RHBH hyzer (to make an early gap bigger) and then flipping up to drift gently right. I was worried about too much turn so I gave the Uplink too much hyzer. Still landed pin high, around circle's edge left.

I have been throwing a Hex on that hole, hard and flat. Usually drifts right a bit before fading back to the basket. Hex is an easier throw, but makes the early gap smaller. Nice to have options. :)

Yep, same here. Distance control is always going to be trickier with understable discs.

I am honored. Truly. :D

That is an excellent summary.

Any uplink news out there?

I played 2x uplinks with 2x envy yesterday... really enjoying my rainbow eclipse envy for these pairings, it fills in for any color haha. I wish I could come here and tell you how great it was yesterday but it was epically and comically bad. Haha. Got first available tree 3' ahead of me on the side and it made me laugh out loud. I got 3 birds, with 4 discs across 5 holes on my "deuce or die" course.

The only highlight was a hyzerflip uplink shot almost dead straight that almost aced. Still can't tag an ace with the damn thing. I'm starting to rethink my desire for a light one as the fade is working out of my first one.

I've been trying to really love the Uplink for a while and there are days when it just is *chef's kiss* and then there are days where I am frustrated it didn't turn as expected. I was able to play Hanna Hills and Jefferson Barracks (The OG) and the Uplink finally clicked. A good pull (65-75%) with a perfect snap and the disc flies flat and has a super late but soft turn. A hard pull with good snap has a straight flight, turns a little quicker, but doesn't come out of the turn...but it also does not become a cut roller. On the other hand, give the disc a little loft or thrown from a higher elevation and it has such a nice panning S flight with a soft landing.

I brought the disc on my trip just as a utility US disc and it quickly became more of a workhorse in the woods. I think once I get my lighter weight Fission Reactor, the Uplink plus that Reactor will most likely bounce the Hex from my bag. Or at least has the possibility to.

Any uplink news out there?

I met some guys from Oregon during a practice round at Bowling Green last week. Later I saw them at the Fly Mart (which was an outdoor event) and one of the guys was a vendor. We got into a conversation about discs (of course) and then the Uplink in particular and he let me try one out. I threw it four times and then I bought two of them. :)

I resisted the urge to put them in my bag for the tournament, so I pulled them out and used them on a course for the first time today. It is a very intuitive disc, for me. It flips up to flat and holds there for the rest of the flight better than anything else in my bag. I hit a couple of long, straight tunnels with them and those shots really made me smile. It also flies big turnover lines and rides the line out to a flat finish very well.

I tore my rotator cuff throwing a forehand a few years ago and coming back from that injury I have tried to avoid forehands whenever possible, so I've been experimenting with and bagging a lot of more under stable discs. I think the Uplink just made my bag.

I jumped on here to see if anyone else was talking about this disc. I should've know it would be Throwa! :)
