The Inevitable 2023 Pros Switching Sponsors Thread

Uli of late seems to always have irons in the fire. Could be something, could be nothing.

I saw something on FB about Simon going to a Michigan company but it wasn't specified which one. So who could DC trade for Simon?

Simon for Ezra?

If this whole trade thing is true, I'm wondering who or what MVP or Discraft could offer?

I would assume that they would just buy out his contract, so maybe just trading money for a player as someone else already alluded to?

I can't imagine some players would just happily accept a trade to a new company if they weren't expecting to go anywhere else and are already comfortable with their bags.

Players sign contracts. Contracts are not unilateral. The closest you could come to trading, is a player and company agree to terminate their contract. The company then negotiates with the player's new company, compensation for the contract termination. In order for a player to come the other way, the same type scenario would have to take place. I don't honestly believe any of it for a moment. The fantasy adds a level of discussion here, though. Just my opinion. Now if someone could just post this up to reddit and the social media powers that be, we could start a new fantasy???

OK I'll play along while digging out from this dang blizzard.

Adding a whole new level to this far fetched fantasy of disc golf player trades:

Paul McBeth and one 4x Buzzz to the Yankees for Aaron Judge and a player to be named later. McBeth used to play baseball, amirite?

Hey. Let's don't stop there. I'll gladly throw Russell Wilson into the deal as well. I imagine with just a little bit of time in training camp the Broncos could make a quarterback out of McBeth.

Sure, by now Russell is likely ready for a different challenge in his career path.

If Brody can transition from Ultimate, why not!

Facebook discussion started about Simon to MVP. I wouldn't have guessed that because I just don't see a worthy trade or buyout occurring with them. Foundation's podcast does allude to this and reddit has ran with this theory.

It will be interesting if any of the big dawgs leave Discmania!!!

Ben Callaway getting slight demotion down to Tour team from the Elite team for Discraft. Feels like Barham and Fry might get similar treatment. You gotta figure if Gossage stays, he has to be promoted to Elite team.

Not a surprise based on his results and player rating. They are comparable to the top players on the Tour team. However, if this is based solely on player rating, Ben's rating is very comparable to Uli's....just saying strictly from a numbers point of view. I don't pretend to know what else goes into these decisions.

Andrew Presnell also announced that he will be going down to the Tour team for the 2023 season. Looks like they're making room at the top at Discraft. AB might be getting a sick tour series force.

Yeah but Uli is so much more than a player. He's on most Jomez coverage and as such he's getting so much more exposure compared to most players.

Or Simon would rather fight Paul for getting his signature discs run than Eagle.

I can see Simon being disillusioned with the direction of DM or not getting enough of the fame/ share of disc sales etc... personal reasons :D

I don't think it's out of the question for him to move. If Discraft is making space and has deep pockets then that's a logical stop. A company where he could maybe get some advancement or a renewed start somewhere he can get behind slinging some disc.. Have a chance to be #1.. Which doesn't entirely seem like a bad argument for MVP.

His odds of being a #1 player on MVP are pretty good, they have production capability and massive growth. They could try to capitalize on their recent success and he could sell some extra plastic. I don't feel it's likely but not out of the question. MVP has gained legitimacy on the main stage and it's got huge growth potential.

I was kinda surprised with Thomas Gilbert going to TSA... If MVP is manufacturing for other brands, they have extra lining in their pockets. Those pockets may be deeper than we think$. They also sold a ridiculous number of gyro boxes again this year, shredded and R2'd old plastic into salvage money... They could have saved all those pennies into a big piggybank...

...maybe Castro goes to DM? Young gun for an embittered vet?

To be perfectly honest, other than how happy the players are with their own situation, I could care less who sponsors whom. I just want to see players perform at a high level, and players who are happy and secure seem more likely to do that.

Maria Oliva posted on insta with an MVP box in the background, disc wasn't an overmold though. Maybe a Streamline disc, or a fake out.
