DGPT Adjusts Schedule to Protect Conpet

This "strategy" sounds quite expensive.

Curious the financial breakdown of doing "this" versus the litigations. Is it really cheaper to spread their resources thin like this? Does this correlate to "having more resources to grow the sport"?

I honestly don't know. Just curious.

They're going to burn FPO to the ground trying to keep Natalie out of the division if they are willing to do this. They don't want to pay legal costs in certain states, so you're going to require a whole division to adjust travel plans to travel who knows how far to a new location for a tournament, assuming you still have a tournament at all? Plus, how many FPO players are carpooling with MPO players right now? All because of a stupid policy that was put together haphazardly after Natalie managed to win a couple pro tours last year.

So to keep Natalie from potentially lowering the prize money for some other FPO players, we're just going to make those players pivot to a new location for their tournament, with likely much smaller crowds to watch than Ledgestone, GLO, or MVP, or not have a tournament at all, so no one gets prize money.

Neat.

It would certainly benefit the players to build more of a closed-shop guild to discriminate against prospective competition.

It's nearly there at the top level it's basically just a formality if that's the direction they choose. Venture capital 101 stuff. The inevitable side effect of outside money looking for roi benefits none of us but we never had any say in any of it anyway.

Time to segway into my rant about how I always had a little bit of disdain for people espousing "grow the sport" because these things are as predictable as tides.

Why is it that the only people who really seem to care are cis men?

right, let's ignore all of the statements and protests that the actual FPO touring pros have made.

I think that DGPT was about to have an FPO division boycott anyway (that's what I gathered from the FPO Preserve press conference) - this was a way to 1. reduce the legal fees from NR filing last-minute lawsuits DGPT for injunction of rules at every stop that was favorable to her cause, and 2. let the FPO division carry on with some sort of 'tour'

my opinions on this matter hold zero weight, but I don't think the DGPT is acting politically or personally with these moves - I think it's surely legally motivated since allowing NR to compete at more events would weaken their case from a legal perspective.

Can't help but feel for the FPO touring players. Buy a van, pay to retrofit it for touring, quit your day job and all the expenses that go with the decision to try to make a living out of a sport they love. Only to have a group of middle age men, living in a world of fear and hate, trash your world. Is that the "fair" part of this? They cannot ban trans athletes legally...so their hate and fear are SO strong, they would rather just dump all FPO? That does not even make sense to me. What is next....skin color, religion preference, sexual preference? My vote is the genetically superior. Fit, tall, long, strong...let's get these dang people out of the game.

The attempt is going to likely be to blame trans players for the move...but, that is a logic flaw and nonsensical. I hope the FPO file a discrimination lawsuit.

Men are the majority audience for sports, regardless of the gender of the competitors. Surely there's a woman in your life who can say why they don't care about sports as much.

Per the PDGA survey and the public statements of the FPO players, the women in question desire a more exclusive policy then MPO competitors.

What's with all of the assumptions that the FPO field as a whole was not considered or consulted on this? You think that the DGPT would just cut a division without so much as talking with many of their touring pros? People may not like him, but Jeff Spring is not that stupid

It's also a logical flaw to assume that all people who are against trans persons competing in gender protected divisions are hateful and fearful.

Probably because they have the majority of the money the majority of the talent the entirety of the manufacturing and distribution of the products and services used to create the tour that everyone plays on and quite possibly even the entire framework of infastructure you're utilizing to make that reddit esque othering remark on this platform.

It will be interesting to see how this short term, separate state strategy works where needed. If it "works", will it mean they continue the separate states procedure next year, they avoid holding elite events in controversial states or a combination?

I assume this is hyperbole? I mean if your only exposure to this is DGCR? The men to women ratio on this site is astronomical. Sausage party up in here in case you haven't noticed.

I find it also interesting it's more of an issue here than in literally any other sports I'm involved in.

Carry on el sausage festo!

Trans women have been competing in disc golf for over 20 years, and not one has ever been dominant, or shown any results that would indicate any sort of biological advantage, insurmountable, or otherwise.

Are we talking about maybe 50 trans women at the most that have competed? You can't extrapolate based on such a small sample size.

And you also conveniently ignore there are at least two trans women who won the title of "World Champion." Some would argue (and in fact many did) that they had a "sort of biological advantage."
