About t go shoot a snow round. Never seen this ribbon idea used before. Can someone post a pic of how you rig it to your disc?

Cool. Didn't know if they just tied it somehow. Tape usually gets all wet and loses its stick.

clear duct tape works best because it sticks but will not leave residue on the disc

I tape it to the bottom of the disc in the center of the disc. Where the ribbons come out should be in the absolute middle to effect the flight as little as possible.

I put about 3' of ribbon on each disc so that if it goes in and buries the ribbon will still mos tlikley be visible.

damn harr0140, you beat me to it! lol i found one of your posts on an earlier thread:

If you do use the ribbons just make sure the point where they are attached is as close to the center of the disc as possible. Put it right on the little nub in the center. It creates the least friction and drag and changes the flight less than if it were attached further out.

I havent found it to be all that bad, (definitely much better than losing discs or not playing in the winter) but I would only do it in deep snow. Also be sure to use duct tape or clear duct tape as it is about the only tape that will withstand the cold temps and bending plastic.

I use one of these. Never lost a disc yet.

I have never tried any of this yet because I just played my first snow round yesterday with only an inch or two-it was awesome btw. I have seen a disc with two small, maybe 1/8th inch max., holes drilled in the center of it. The string was looped through them and tied. Funny thing is that a buddy of mine found it after the snow melted last spring, so it didn't work out too well for whoever threw it even though it had a good 3ft string.

1)Drill a small hole (1/8" should be large enough) through the center of it
2)Thread ribbon through this hole and secure it with something on the underside, leaving about 24-36" of it exposed on the topside.
3) Voila!

Notes:
-This will render your disc illegal for tournament play.
-The longer the ribbon the better for light fluffy snow
-I use a toothpick or small stick to tie the ribbon to to keep it from coming back through the hole.

This is how I've done it most, and, seen it done.
The 3M "Scotch Tough" Clear Duct Tape works about the best.
In this picture, I was trying some Gorilla Tape out. Didn't work so well.
The ribbon def puts a drag on the disc and shortens your throws. I was going to try out some bright Pink Nylon Straight-Line String this weekend at Winter League, but, ended up pulling it off because the course we played 20 miles from my house didn't even have enough snow to justify using it.
Any other questions PM me...

Tape will do fine. I'm not drilling any of my discs.

I don't think I would drill a disc unless I only planned on throwing it with a string on it. It seems like it could be more reliable than tape, though-as far as keeping the string attatched.

But, I think any disc thrown in deep snow shouldn't be too important to you.

This is how we did it when we play during christmas break up on the western coast of Michigan. That lake effect snow gets nasty. The first time we tried it the ribbons kept coming off the disc and the duct tape wouldn't stick. Second time around we used blow dryers to heat the disc in the center, used duct tape to tape the ribbons, then heated them again. Never lost a ribbon off of a disc. It does get tough though finding your ribbon in the snow. Have fun!
