Jump when you putt?

I do outside of about 50ft. Inside of that circle i try to get a nice beam at it,but outside I jump forward 1 hop with a slight anhyzer so the putter kinda stalls at the end. what i wanna know is i get conflicted with weather or not to jump-putt and i end up missin a bird and screwin up an otherwise well played hole. has anyone found it better to jump or stay planted?

i always end up lifting up my back leg. i finish putting and i have one arm out to the front, another to the back and my legs make a 90 degree angle. its actually quite comical

Before you start your round, already have in mind where your standing range ends and where your jumping starts. For me, I know anything outside 40' is going to be a jump putt so I already know for those putts to put a little extra on it. I don't go into a round thinking I might jump on some outside 40', but not on others. PUTT < 40' = STANDING / PUTT > 40' = JUMPING. Just figure out what your range is and be consistent with it. Have a game plan and stick to it. Good luck!

I never got the hang of jump-putting, and I'm still tweaking my form, but I use a rocking motion. Start with all my weight on my back foot (left since I putt RHBH), and the disc is tucked into my waist. As I extend my arm out straight in front, I shift my weight forward, snapping my wrist at the end. This has given me a straighter, and more powerful throw. I have also found that it's a lot more acurate than anything else I've tried.

For me it is about 45 feet - 60 feet, as long as I have a good line to the basket with a lot of height to work with. I also find it helpful to do this with a tailwind at my back - the extra height helps.

i don't jump when putting ever, but i'd like to learn the technique...i've gotten pretty good lately at the straight line putt, but a miss goes FAR...

On a Putt < 25 feet I will do a straddle putt. I just think I can generate better control with this shot.

But on a Putt > 25 feet I will do a push forward putt. I need the extra power on my putts from that range and generally anything greater than 40 feet I will putt with a slight anhyzer angle to make it hold the line.

Most of the good players that I know jump putt outside of 50 ft. It's a really effective technique. I'd recommend everyone at least try it. If you can figure it out it will increase your putting range by quite a bit.

I'm too old and fat to jump putt. I'm afraid some wise guy would film it and put it on Youtube. I really can't risk my kids seeing something that embarrassing.

I straddle putt more than I jump putt. I rarely jump putt during a round because I just don't have the technique down yet. I recently picked up a lighter weight Aviar to use as my jump putter, now it's time to practice. Paul Ulibarri talks about his technique in the "Making longer putts" video found here http://discraft.com/vid/html/dg04.html.

thanx! im just gonna stick to jumpers 50> stading 40< ive developed a nice little stall at the end of the jump that helps me not overshoot. still missin a little left 35% of putts though.

there are some good vids on youtube demonstating jump-putting. to me the only way to learn is watch a pro and try to see myself throwing the same way they do. you'll develop your own style through this. just find what works for you.

outside about 30 with the straddle i get a weird loft and kinda flutter. it usually goes in,but i make more putts pointin my right shoulder at the pin and just tryin to get a good line at it.

hey i dont exactly look like im disco dancin when i jump so dont feel bad. i assume you play in stl?

It all really depends on the situation for me. If its a loooong putt, I may jump putt, or I might just throw my 147g Aviar on a sweet anhyzer line and clash those chains... or come pretty damn close at least.
