Just wondering if given the opportunity would you use a Caddy? Or in other words if you consider your bag part of your routine.

Personally I would rather carry my own bag. It is part of my routine and I just feel different when I don't have it on my back. Of course if I were to play a course in the middle of the summer that after 18 holes you have walked 6 miles I would want one. But as far as regular rounds and normal tournament rounds I would rather stick to what I know.

(And yes I'm enjoying a day of Braves Baseball and the Masters and I wanted something to talk about :D)

My wife has caddied for me once during a tournament, she had fun, but only did 1 round of 3 for the tournament. It didn't mess with any routine except she would walk away while I needed a different disc.

I haven't played a tournament without one yet.

My daughter loves to caddy for me. Will be doing it on the 23rd for the Blue Angel tourney too.

I think people mistake the purpose of a caddy on far too many occasions. This is true with ball golf as well as disc golf. It's only worth having a caddy if they help you. Pro golfers don't pay their caddies 10+ percent of their winnings because they carry their bag. They pay them because they help with club selection, putting lines, etc. I think it should be the same in disc golf, hell more-so for disc golf. A DG bag is pretty light and small, the only purpose of a caddy should be to help you with disc selection and shot advice, in my opinion. Or to allow a friend or family member to experience a tourney 'inside the ropes' so to speak.

i had a buddy make a trip out to wisconsin with me last weekend for a tournament. he plays but at/below a novice level. he carried my bag (revo dual lite). i would pull the disc out of the bag, he just wore the bag and kept score. i find i play better when im more relaxed. im more relaxed around my friends, esp when traveling out of state, and i dont know someone there.

i might have a buddy caddy for me saturday a tourney by me just because he doesnt know if he will have the money to reg in time with the few remaining spots there are.

I use one of my buddies when ever I get the chance! His favorite thing is to recommend I throw my Wasp, on nearly every throw, lol. It works though, he does get me thinking about my shots a lot more.

I've used a caddy for one tournament only. AmNats @ the tobaggon. A good friend who knows my game. He's also caddy for others at USDGC so he know the game.

Every once in awhile I'll grab the bag if im pissed... It just a long course and keeps the wear and tare off of my back on a long course.

my buddies make a recommendation every once in a while, but its along the lines of 'use a mid rather than a driver'. not so much actual disc selection. plus its awesome to joke around some stuff that no one else has a clue about

My brother caddies for a discraft pro in almost every tourny he plays. I think he pays him 25 bucks plus 15% of his winnings. All he does is carry the bag. And doesn't talk unless the guy says something to him. That's just one guy but it's how he keeps his head in the game.

that just happened... player or caddy, ill be there saturday

I could use a caddy in a tourney to keep me focused & keep my head in the game.

all i would do is keep getting more and more angry turning 2's into 4's. with a friend there, he can talk/slap me straight and im good to go again. its just calming, as lame as that sounds, knowing you have someone there that isnt playing against you, but there to help take your mind off things

I've never had one but I'm only playing AMs, I think it would be great if the person who was caddying knew everything about your throwing game.

I had a caddy once and really enjoyed it. A friend rode up with me to play in a tourney (which I preregistered for). He planned to sign up on site, but had no luck since it was full. Since we live just over an hour away from the course (and he rode with me), he was forced to stay for both rounds. He carried the bag, kept the atmosphere light, and made a few suggestions/observations that I would have missed otherwise. It was fun and I bought him lunch for helping out.

On the last day of vacation in Ontario, Canada a few years ago my younger brother decide to drive back with me knowing that meant he had to either play or caddy for me in the tournament; he decided to caddy.

It was weird not to carry my bag and I felt naked, but on the other hand it was very refreshing not to lug it around all day. The guys on my card probably thought I was some stuck up, pompous Yank who couldn't be bothered to carry my bag in the advanced division, hahaha.

I doubt I'll ever have a caddy again but it was kinda nice and my brother got a nice tourney stamped disc of his choosing from my winnings.

On a side note, I have to call out Feldberg for literally using his caddy.

A buddy of mine caddied for him last year and after the tourney was over Dave decided he wasn't going to give him 10% as he originally said. Instead he offered to send him more than the cash value in merchandise. It would have been cool if it didn't take more than 6 months and some harassing emails to finally receive the stuff.

if i was better i would use one..not to carry my bag..although it is a plus..but more for just input on shots, wind, distance, elevation changes etc.

My wife caddied for me at the Am Crosstown and really helped me keep myself level-headed and talked me out of some dumb shots. It was nice. Caddies are nice. You should get a caddy.
