Yeah it can take a bit of practice - you have to sort of lay the blade flat with the long part perpendicular to the disc edge. Give moderate pressure and move it slowly around the rim - if you are doing it right, you'll see the little strip of plastic that you shaved off fall off the razor...

I prefer a razor blade, you can be very accurate and it doesn't leave a sanded feel. A quick once around the flashing and you'll see it peel off like a strip.

In terms of practice - do lots of it; the best teacher is throwing - spend time in a field throwing back and forth tweaking your form as you go and critique yourself honestly. When you throw a junk fade-out nose-up wobbler, analyze WHY you did it ... what form mistakes did you make, what habits...

I'm a Sidewinder fan, and for even longer hyzerflips I like the Sword.

My faves are the Glo Z zones from the Great Lakes Open. Great grip, puddle-topped, extremely durable, and always overstable. I've got a Ledgestone TI one that I haven't really thrown (currently using as my breakup tray ... cough), but it feels identical with perhaps slightly less grip...

The Sword is a hyzer-flip machine; I like to power mine hard on a hyzer and let it flip up to straight ... less hyzer and I get a predictable flip up and late turn. The VIP Sword tends to have more HSS - the TP better for long turns that hold the line to the ground. Not a disc I'd use a bunch...

Get a lighter weight Verdict maybe, or beat one up (they can be beaten to almost a 'fresh Truth kind of flight); I pair the Verdict and Truth, but find the Warship a bit too long (tends to compete with my Leopards).

John - any updates on Strawn Park in Columbia, MO? Any chance it will actually open up this year? Everyone is very excited to get out there and start playing DG.
