[Discraft] 2012 Discraft Ace Race Disc

There were around 8 designs in the shipment that I got. At work so I can't take a pic.

Yes, what JRW III said. I recall seeing 6-8 different designs laid out on the table. I didnt snap a shot of all of them, just the one I picked. They have some cool artwork on them, and they are larger diameter than the Innova ones I had. Pretty sweet looking minis, very happy with the selection.

...We did not have that many aces and metals at our event, but if you could put close calls on your scorecard, I would have had at least 18 of those...QUOTE]

I agree!
Our group was a mix of new players and long time players, we all had many close calls. If 1/2 of the throws I had at 150-175 are duplicated on the course i will not have to bother putting practice :p

I have used my 171 on wooded courses since and love it, I dont throw long distance (250-300 tops with a 169 river or 150 diamond) and have noticed that if I throw this in place of my buzzz I can really power down and get the same shot. I throw LHBH and untill now had to choose between a stratus or beat DBuzzz for a tight wooded anny line, the AR12 is holding the line longer than the buzzz and further than the stratus.

I think u just named the disc for Discraft! and it could have a pic of 2 guns crossing, like a play on the AR15

So will this disc make the bag for some people?

The lighter one (166 g) is in my bag.
Played a practice round last night with the Ace Race discs and other seldom thrown discs I have.

Definitely a keeper for me, goes straight at full power slight fade at the end and gets similar distance as my other fairway drivers. Very easy to control off the tee and doesn't seem to require a ton of power/effort to get it to fly correctly.

Seems to be less stable than a 1.0 to me. the blue ones are more hard and overstable maybe those seem like a .7 the orange and green one i threw were maybe a .5 feeling broken in it seems like they would get more understable.

Why not? I power grip my mids with no problems.

Same reason I don't advise power gripping a putter.........why would you use a "power" grip on a disc not meant for "power"?

Just to possibly get 15-20ft?...with the cost being less control of the flight plate.

Well the videos from the ace race events are starting to roll in, seems a lot of people are digging the new disc.

The ace race I am going to just filled up, cant wait.

Well, now that I've thrown it, I'll give my input. Take a buzzz and make the rim width a little wider and this is the disc. Very straight. Turns a little, fades a little. Heavier weights are better IMO. Little less flippy.

Very straight eh????...

How about Beam or Laser for the name?....

I like beam better than laser for the not-so-obvious factor, but just for ideas..

Discraft Elite Z Beam, Discraft Beam, Z Beam

Discraft Elite Z Laser, Discraft Laser, Z Laser

(Note: I can't find either name as being used currently or in the past. Also, I haven't thrown the disc yet so this is just brainstorming / speculation.)

I'm the guy throwing at 0:36, followed by DGCR members BionicRib and Jenco then Ashleigh (the ash part of mashnut). Great event, and a great turnout.

Why does it look like Ashleigh is being recordered by a creeper in the bushes? Lol I liked the look of the pyramid basket, it looked like a lot of fun.

If a guy has a Z Buzzz, Z Wasp, Z Drone, Z Hornet, and Z Stalker, does the 2012 Ace Race disc bring anything new to the table ?
